Big Al 757 Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Have had mine 2 weeks now, still waiting for some nice weather to get some good pics up. So what fuel does everyone put in theirs? At the moment I'm on Shell Optimax. I read in the handbook that it has to be 98 Octane, so does that only limit us to Optimax, BP's premium, (can't remember what it's called), etc, etc? Cheers Quote
Guest prescience Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 97 or 98 is ok well i use 97 at esso. if u stick 95 in, the ECU will adjust your timing but will not raise a message Quote
Liam's Z Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Nothing but Optimax for me... The car run's best on 97 RON plus... Quote
Guest prescience Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I think Optimax has a constituent injector cleaner too - which is all to the good Quote
Removed Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 cheapest 97 I can find most times, and every now and then a tankful of Optimax to clean up Quote
M13KYF Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Always Optimax for mine. There has been some comparison tests in the press and BP's gave slighty more power but Optimax was given the best vote. Quote
WoREoD Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I've used Tesco 99 Ron Super Unleaded since new, with the occasional tank of Optimax when no Tesco in the area. One of the Car Mags recently tested the Tesco Super, and came to the conclusion it was everything it should be. The manufacturers even said it has the same additives in it as Optimax. One note of caution: Spent a recent weekend in the Southport / Liverpool / Wirral area. In the Tescos up there the Super Unleaded seems to be only 97 Ron! Down sarf it seems to be 99. Cheers, JohnK Quote
Removed Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 yeah the UL99 from tesco seem to be concentrated in the south of England Quote
eddmac Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Feel sorry for us poor irish blokes then, we can only get standard 95 ron, no super for sale in the country Quote

eddmac Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Having said that, when the guys from the old site were over last year, i didnt notice any performance difference at all, in fact i thought my Z was fractionally quicker than others there, all of them were running optimax too Quote
