Gauge pod surround removal?

Hi everyone. I am thinking of changing the colour of the silver gauge surrounds in the picture below but I don't know how to remove them.

 

Can you remove them as they are or do you have to take out the centre column and take the gauge pod apart?

Pretty straight forward taking them out. In terms of colour change, never seen it done.. I'm sure the LED's would be soldered onto the board..

Sorry I meant changing the colour of the plastic silver surrounds on the gauges not the LED colour.

I believe they are glued to the centre trim?

They come out quiet easily, just press on them gently from the front and they will pop out.

 

BTW - The ones in my 2003 were plastic, the later ones are aluminium.

Thanks for the info. I tried pushing in from the front but they seem to have lugs coming of the side to hold it in place. I used a small flat head screw driver to try and get them off aswell but they still wont move.

 

I don't know what to try next, maybe take the pod apart?

Mask everything and just spray them

This might be an instance where Plasti Dip is your friend!

 

Spray them in place and if you don't like the result - peel it off!

Cheers David that Plasti Dip looks good especially if you can peel it off if you don't like the look.
