pdg32 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Hi all, Ever since I bought my Zed, there's been an issue that's been perplexing me. The car has been ultra reliable and I've not had any problems at all, really pleased with it. It's just this one thing that I can't work out what it could be. Basically, whenever I start the car and begin to move off, within 10 seconds or so there is a whirring / ticking type sound that comes and goes within 1-2 seconds, and doesn't return. Sometimes when I've just so happened to have been pressing the brake pedal at the time of the noise, the pedal has pulsed. There are no fault lights on the dash or anything like this. The noise always comes within seconds of moving off, and at no other time. Wondered if it was a CV joint issue but it doesn't matter whether I'm turning or pointing straight, it's almost like something automatic is kicking in. I don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but I could really use some advice here as haven't a clue what it could be, and whether it's normal or not (I'm guessing it isn't). Thanks in advance PdG Quote
Neilp Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 If it is coming from the rear of the car it will be the clicky axle issue. Quote
stubzie83 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I think this is the ABS system testing itself. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 1 Quote
eatonm90 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Agree with stubzie83, ABS test, Had the same noise and got a bit concerned after I bought mine, if you read the manual there is a section that tells you from starting and moving away slowly after a short time the ABS does a test, mine makes grinding noise for a second or so and you can feel it through the brake pedal. cs2000 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I think this is the ABS system testing itself. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 Correct, mine does it too, as did my previous car. If you press the brakes whilst its doing it firmly harsh you will lock the wheels at 20% of the usual required strength too! Quote
pdg32 Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 This is most helpful, and I'm relieved it's normal. Thanks a lot chaps Quote
