mattfinch Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Hello all I used to have my front bumper lip plasti dipped in black and a few weeks ago someone hit my car. Their insurance paid for me to have a new bumper and I have just got it back today. Will it be alright for me to spray the bumper lip in black plasti dip again or will I need to leave the new paint for a few weeks or months first. Any advise would be great. Thanks Quote
Pete87 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I think you would be better leaving it a few weeks to settle. Quote
mattfinch Posted July 20, 2013 Author Posted July 20, 2013 Ok thanks for that, I thought that might be the case but thought I would check to be on the safe side Quote
Pete87 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 When ever I have had stuff sprayed they have told me not to clean it ect for a few weeks just to let it settle or harden up Quote
mattfinch Posted July 20, 2013 Author Posted July 20, 2013 I have heard you should not wax it for about a month as well. I'll just leave it for a few weeks just to be safe. Thanks again Quote
ddcboyle Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I presume if u get front bumper resprayed you are to avoid motorway driving to stop stones chipping until hardened? Quote
coldel Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Isnt it usually around 2-4 weeks after painting? I would hang on a while and let it set. Quote
nap Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 not shore about this but mate who does my paint jobs allways says its no probs to wax after a respray as it is baked in the oven.? Quote
Slosh Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) ^ this, a good mate of mine works for smart repair and has done a few panels for me on the mini. he said as long as its all cured properly its fine. It's when it hasn't been baked it needs to cure for a couple of days. Edited July 21, 2013 by Slosh Quote
mattfinch Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 Thanks guys this has helped out, The people who done the bumper for me said that they have baked it in their ovens to dry the paint and they have also washed the car after. I think if I spray the bumper this weekend coming it should be alright to do by then. Quote
