jordster Posted July 13, 2013 Share Posted July 13, 2013 Hi guys, Just bought this unit and the associated cabling from Halfords. I've got a 2005 GT with birdsview sat nav and the Bose sound system. The system is now wired up with the cables, however no sound at all!!!! Can anyone help as I've spent the last few hours on the car and just don't understand. My friend has the same car (non bose) and the same stereo and didn't have any problems with the sound. I'm therefore thinking this is something to do with the Bose amp maybe? We've dismantled the Sub and checked there's power to the amp which there is and been round checking various powers to the wires etc plus all fuses ok? Still no sound at all???....... jordster Posted July 14, 2013 Author Share Posted July 14, 2013 I did ask for the Bose ones from Halfords but the loom doesn't have RCAS on - should it? If so they've issued me the standard cables. buster Posted July 14, 2013 Share Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) would be a case of using the h/unit speaker wires ie green... green/black... white... white/black.. purple... purple/black... grey.... grey/black and join them to the main looms o/e speaker wires....more than likely improve the sound output as well. jordster Posted July 14, 2013 Author Share Posted July 14, 2013 Thanks Guys, Whilst I am tempted to wire it myself I'm worried that there's literally no space in there at all and with the sat nav it's even less - don't want to be ramming the cables in with the risk of them splitting. I'm on my way back to halfords now to take the old unit and order the correct one. it's annoying when you mention what you have and they still get it wrong! Looking forward to it being done as my mates in the audi with Bose sounds awesome and my other mates in the z without bose sounds awesome too! Thanks for the help and will update once fixed! jordster Posted July 14, 2013 Author Share Posted July 14, 2013 Ok so a massive warning if you guys didn't already go before - avoid Worcester Halfords. I made the phone call so it wasn't an hour wasted journey and was told the car audio expert was in today so would be able to help. I dismantled the stereo (again) and turned up to find out that in fact the expert was on holiday till next week and they couldn't help. Another wasted journey...... Wish I had gone to the local specialist to do now as so far 10 hours wasted on this bloody stereo - damn it better sound good once installed!!!..... jordster Posted July 24, 2013 Author Share Posted July 24, 2013 Rightio So now have a refund from Halfords, although over a week on I still haven't had a response from my complaint email or a call from the "expert" as promised. I do however have cables from "Audio Direct" who were brilliant and quick and now have sound. Question to you guys - the sound is not very loud. I'm able to turn up to the volume 40 (max) and still not very good - is there something else I need to do? Do I have the RCA's just in the wrong position or something? Any advise would be great.
