Just swapped nav units and still in jap!

Ok so I just spent the past two hours sitting in my zed sweating my nackers off swapping out the jdm nav screen and DVD drive for what I was told a 2004 UK GT screen and drive.

I turned her on and everything was still is jap so I put my new map DVD in the drive that I bought from http://www.satnavi.com/nissan.php (option 2) and it came up as navigation loading please wait, it did this for about 10 minutes and the screen turned on/off and repeated itself.... Any ideas chaps?

I'm going to have a look around the Internet and see if I can find an alternative download and maybe chuck a drive cleaning disk in there just in case.

You're probably going to need a CD to get that unit working, don't think the DVD is compatible with a 2004 Zed....I think the DVD's only work on the facelift models.

Thanks Pete, I think you're on to something. From what I've been reading am I correct in thinking that a first need a nav cd to load the software etc then put the map DVD in afterwards? I have no idea where to get said cd and nothing useful is coming up on google.

Did you get anywhere with this? Mine has the Japanese writing on the screen and I wouldn't mind getting a UK system to work properly on it. Do I have to buy a whole UK unit or can I keep the screen part?
