Im sure I read somewhere that if you disconnect the battery that the stereo needs a security code putting in it and if you dont have it you need to take it to nissan and have them charge you 50 quid. I know I dont have that code.

 

Sounds like this should not be the case to me - stereo should just work?

 

Whats the score with this.

I have a 55 plate uk gt coupe with original bose. Changed the battery and no code needed.

 

Likewise the stereo is coded to the ECU I believe, ive d/c the battery before and its been fine (you loose your tuned stations mind!)

When I bought my car the stereo needed a code which I managed to get from Nissan. I've also had the battery go flat for quite a while and needed the code. The battery going flat for a short time or a brief disconnect won't require a code though, I guess the stereo has a battery or capacitor which keeps the memory for a while.

Yeah my battery was replaced soon after I got my Z as it ran out of juice and I had no issues with codes. Clever old Z eh! :lol:
