I've seen a 350z I really want but the engine management light is on due to it having after market exhaust apparently. Problem is the MOT is due next month will it fail with the engine management light on as I think it will? I've seen the quick fix with peddle dance but this doesn't get rid if completely does it? Thanks in advance

is most likely the high flow cats he may have on or test pipes (npo cats at all). It wont be the exhaust. You can get spacers that sort the issue. :pmzmanalex: for them

If it has no cats at all, I believe the MOT place can fail it anyway as the new rule states that if the car is made with cats then for the MOT it must have cats on.

Thanks mate. I've spoke to the lad who's selling car and asked if its had the cars removed but he doesn't know :( I'm wondering if I should just turn my back on this car as the last thing I want is hassle. Are the spacers expensive?

spacers are about £20 you can buy second hand cats of ebay for cheap then problem solved you got best of both worlds!but if thats not your thing to mess about with cars or modify them then go buy a stock one and be hassle free..if he doesnt know whether it has cats or not who else knows what he doesnt know so maybe best not to find out the hard way

Beware of buying a car displaying an EML, but it may be something very straight forward, however best to plug in a code reader to determine what the issue actually is before you buy the car.
