Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I would like to investigate what my options are for using a decal on the centre caps with the standard 18's. I assume the standard centre caps will be hopeless due to the embossed emblem. Does anyone know what centre caps I might use. Ideally I would go for a set of flat caps from another car which I could pick up secondhand for minimal money. Would this be possible. What size centre caps would I need and does anyone know of any flat ones which might fit? Cheers Shinjuku Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 The ebay fairy might hold the key. Seen these ones. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/63MM-UNIVERSA ... 19bc502796 Two questions: (i) what size do I need and (ii) is there an obvious reason why these would not fit? Quote
sparky370z Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 i drilled out the nissan burger on mine, which gave me a flat(ish) surface. then ebay came through and i got these to "stick" over the top Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 When you say drilled them out, what do you mean? Quote
sparky370z Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 on the centre caps there are the nissan burgers. if you remove them from the wheel, you will see two little plastic "melted" rivets, drill these out and then the burgers just push out from the back. gives you a smooth surface to stick something too. the transformer discs i got were convex in shape and fitted quite nicely. im sure that someone here does JEL coat overlays for the centre caps. Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Anyone know what size of caps I would need if I bought the generic ones of the bay? Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Anyone know what size of caps I would need if I bought the generic ones of the bay? The same size as the ones on your Zed Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Legend Dave. Thanks. No problem, if you want to borrow this just give me a shout Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Might be a bit much for me TBH. Does it come with full instructions on how to use it? Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Good man. Thanks very much. If you are at home measuring please could you have a look at rear side where it mates with the wheel for me? Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 That's useful, particularly if it represents the penetration limit of the cap, but I had in mind the tooth to tooth diameter. Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 That's useful, particularly if it represents the penetration limit of the cap, but I had in mind the tooth to tooth diameter. Jeez I want some kind of payment for all this work Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 at a meet? I've been thinking I should see if anyone wants to do a Kent/Essex borders meet... Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 The back diameter seems the same as the tooth to tooth Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 at a meet? I've been thinking I should see if anyone wants to do a Kent/Essex borders meet... I am on the Kent / Essex border so that suits me fine, I live in Kent and work in Essex Quote
Shinjuku Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 So tooth to tooth is bang on 50mm and the front is 58mm. That's a pain, most of them have a high innner ring measurement relative to the outer face. These may be close. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50mm-Universa ... 43aef9f88e Might be easiest to drill the burger off the original ones, sand them down and go from there after all. Quote
sasha@lazytrips Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I make the diameter 58mm Am I being dim or is that not equal to 58mm? Quote
HaydnH Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I make the diameter 58mm Am I being dim or is that not equal to 58mm? I think you meant 53mm? I tend to agree. Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Its the angle of the picture sorry.... I definitely make it 58mm Quote
sasha@lazytrips Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Angle or no angle, in that photo it definitely looks no bigger than 53. Quote
spursmaddave Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Typical woman saying something is smaller than it actually is Its the angle if the photo and the tape DEFINITELY 58mm Quote
