Jixaman Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Hi there, the Z has developed the same problem that lead to the pivot pin in the gearbox to break a couple of years ago, the output shaft (gearbox) must be dry (at least from past experience that's what the symptom is)... Is there an inspection hatch or can I grease it from where the fork goes into the gear box? Cheers... Quote
Jixaman Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Answer is yes, remove the rubber bung where the fork comes out, cleaned the shaft (there was a serious amount of black gunk came out, old grease and clutch dust) greased it up, closed rubber bung (bastid), jobs a good un... If you need it done Stewart Motor Engineers, Carfin, Motherwell... Hope this helps someone in future... P.S. Have you read some of the @*!# on the American websites, replacing gearboxes and such...
