HELP - Funny Engine Noise When Cold

Hi

Got a few threads about issues with the car atmo :p

When driving to work in the morning my engine has an extra weird noise running, a higher pitch moving/rotating noise that gets louder when accelerating. I think its the belt but figured I would ask on here first. The noise goes away after about 4 miles and I dont hear it when Im starting to drive back at the end of the day.

Anyone heard of this problem before ?

Cheers

I have recently started to get this too. In the mornings when driving for the first mile or two, I get a whirring kind of noise sounds almost hydraulic- like a pump cavitating. This happens between 2500 and 4000rpm and disappears within two minutes, as the car heats up!!!!

+1 on the belts.

Had this on my other car.

Was expecting a new alternator needed as it sounded like this was the origin.

Nice honest garage said it was just the belts......no cracks just a bit shiney.

Strange thing is though, on the zed my belts were cracking like a trooper but gave no audible sign of wear and their true poor condition was only the visual cracking
