captint Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Anyone fitted a short shifter, if so, is it worth it? Quote
sl114 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Do you like chaging gear every second? I had one on my old MG and TBH it didnt make that much of a difference after i modded the engine. It reduced the 0-60 time by 0.2 seconds (I was running around 7.2 seconds from a 1.4) which was a nice improvement, but it was very annoying shifting so quickly. Im not sure what it will be like on the Zed though. Quote
captint Posted December 14, 2006 Author Posted December 14, 2006 Must be better than on a Rover Quote
lomoto Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 get an aftermarketr gearknob..most are appreciably shorter than standard item ..you get the same effect Quote
sl114 Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Must be better than on a RoverI think it would be. Plus you are running a lot more power than i was so the increase should be more significant Quote
mike@mjpauto Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Most of them seem to rattle either a bit or, in the cheaper eBay versions, a lot. I have a Stillen adjustable version - four positions from -40% to +20% compared to stock - quickly changed with car at rest, no dismantling. Quote

H5 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 And how much are they? This Stillen one sounds interesting. Quote
mike@mjpauto Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Stillen shifter is a version of the Nismo adjustable - price approx. £195 depending on whether I'm shipping loads or little...up to 20% off on a big shipment. They still rattle a bit BTW! Quote
Revsport Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 A lot of guys on the us forums have had problems with the B&M short shifters. Ill look into it a bit more. Lew Quote
