nij1983
So I did a 300 mile trip yesterday and everything was fine. However now when I turn the car on (hot or cold start) there is a strange noise coming from the engine. If I press the clutch down it goes away, but as soon as the clutch comes back up so does the noise. This happens in neutral, and I can hear it in 1st and 2nd gear. Anyone experienced anything similar or have an idea of what this might be caused by? Thanks

Ebized
I expect it is the usual clutch release bearing noise - known issue - here is one thread I turned up (search function ) viewtopic.php?f=10&t=22056&hilit=release+bearing
Wasso
Everybody experiences the same sound. From old cars to new, and the sound is not exactly the same, sometimes more chattery, or clunky, although once the car has warmed up 80% of that noise should go away. Annoying I know - it sounds terrible in my book!
nij1983
well the car was definately 100% hot after the 300 mile drive! but the noise was still there it hasn't made that noise before so its quite worrying.
Androo
perfectly normal for these cars apparently - i thought the same as you
nij1983
From the looks of the related post there's not much that can be done. Has anyone managed to do something to reduce the noise?
