nurburgring and tyres

got my trip booked to germany to go on the nurburgring at the end of september :)

 

anyone else going this year?

 

anyway what tyres would you reccomend me to get on the rear i have avon zz3's on the front that are near enough brand new should i go for these on the rear?

Don't mix tyres. See the Sticky in Tyres as to why this is a bad idea.

 

If you can afford it then go for either Pilot Sport 2s or R888s all round, or just match what you've got.

 

I'd say the avons are not going to be brilliant on track. I would switch them for ps2's all round if you really want to enjoy the ring. I do wonder about the R888's, only ever seen them on proper trackday cars, would like to try some though.

I run the R888's.

 

Best grip in the dry bar none and they'll have far more grip and last better and be more progressive and predictable on track than high performance road tyres. The R888s will still be quicker in the damp and slightly wet but once it comes to having to displace water they'll loose their advantage.
