slimjim Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Been doing some searchys and found that it is better for me to put the higher octane fuel in the Zed. Which I am cool with, didn't buy the car for economy! Quick question I have is ... I work from home, so the car will be in the garage most of the week. Out and about on the weekends but not too many miles. So am I cool filling up to the brim every time? Heard a few legends that octane levels can drop over time. But how long does that take? A week? Month? Year? Just wondering.... Cheers... Quote
captain Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I know it's a small point but a full tank weighs in excess of 100 lbs, adding about 7% to the car's bulk. If you like to drive like at the weekends, I'd fill it 1/3 of a tank at a time. Quote

M13KYF Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 your best using high ron rating fuel like Shell's V-Power or BP's ultimate. Engine timing is more suited to it Quote
slimjim Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Cheers Mike... Yeah, I gathered that from the posts on the site... Just wondered if I would "loose ron" if the machine was sat during the week. Going to take Captain's advice and fill it a 1/3 at a time, before I go out in it Quote
Husky Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 i was always told if a car is sitting its best to have a full tank incase of condenstion in the tank. Quote
Ekona Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 A week is nothing, mine often sits for two-three doing nothing if I've got other stuff on. If it was being left for a few months I might worry about it, but certainly not just a week. Fill it up or don't fill it up, it really doesn't make any difference over a short period. Quote
slimjim Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 I'm fretting, for no reason... for a change Cheers guys... Quote
Dblock Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'm fretting, for no reason... for a change Cheers guys... People say you can lose a ron in 1 week. Also if you dont get it from a busy petrol station how long do you think that petrol has been sat there? Quote
