MattMe Posted February 26, 2010 Share Posted February 26, 2010 Just read the post below abut using Halfrauds 5w oil and it reminded me about something I've pondered for a while. I know the basics of the difference between 5w and 10w, but why if Nissan use 10w are so many people putting 5w in their cars? Are the engines not 'setup' to run the 10w (which IMO is more suitable for British weather). What benefits are you expecting by using the thinner oil? Just curious on your opinions... Yup, I'm sure Abbey said if you have oil problems the thicker oil was better as not so much could get passed the seals, and its also better for higher temps. 5w vs 10w is just the cold start viscosity (sp?), either will be fine.
