Very unhappy GT4 owner

Guys (and Gals) have to be honest and express my total dissatisfaction with my Zed and its (worse) dealer in Cardiff.

I have owned the car for just over a year and I was initially seduced by its looks, handling and supremely grunty engine. Was upsold to a GT4 (didn't take much convincing!) as the best factory model, in Kuro.

Unfortunately the car does do a lot of miles (23k p.a.)but that was the reason I went for the Zed and not a Boxster or similar, still £30K for a Japanse sports car is a lot of dough.

Well I'm on my 3rd BOSE unit, the paintwork is frankly crappy quality and has had to be repaired under an (external) warranty and the seat leather on the driver's side is starting to look like a 5year old repmobile.

It just seems to me like simple, basic flaws (poor ICE system, no paint/quality protection and "sensitive" cows) have ruined my experience. However, the dealer has taken the biscuit now.

When I complained about the paintwork and interior they asked me to bring the car in for an inspection. Dutifully turned up (time off work again) only to be told that they don't do bodywork in Cardiff, I have to go somewhere else in South Wales and here's their number! When I calmly pointed out that I bought the car from them not the mob 30 miles away they seemed totally uninterested.

Now the BOSE unit is faulty (again) and they want the car in to find out the serial number of the faulty unit THEY installed three months ago!! When the obvious question "don't you have the details of the unit you installed last time?" the response was no, they all have a different serial number!

There have been other instances but I would be here for hours.

All in all I expect this level of service if I had bought a bargain basement runaround, but not that of a company trying to win sales off the Germans (or even Italians!). Perhaps I am being unreasonable in my expectations but all in all its convinced me to sell the car and warn all my friends against buying. Damn shame but never again.

The dealer (Wessex Garages) seems unwilling to recognise this poor service level let alone do anything about it.

Sorry to hear that Mark, but it seems like you've got a real Friday afternoon special. I won't waste my breath saying contact customer services GB (but you could), or you could write a letter to the MD of Nissan UK. Or you could try the What Car? team etc....

Just ideas and sure that you might now have had enough. Would just wind me up silly and my pigheadiness would come until resolve to my satisfaction......

But its damn shame that you experienced both a poor car (which hopefully limited to the odd one) and a crap dealer, which unfortunately there seems a hell of a lot more of them!

Dont blame the car, blame the **** poor dealer network :scare:

anyone buying a £30k car deserves better service than we are experiencing at dealers up and down the country..also ,and I,m not siding with the dealers here., by all accounts Nissan Uk are not supporting the dealers to the extent they should be either.. if a customer has a problem they should bend over backwards to help the dealer sort it out..

But it seems by all accounts on this site, they are working against the dealer and customer..

, and again this is no help to us either I think most manufacturers are all tarred with the same brush..I have had poor service in the past from Ford, Mercedes,Jeep and probably the worst experience with a Vauxhall main dealer who left the majority of pipes and fastners undone on a warranty job on an engine rebuild and it only got me 200yards down the road :headhurt: This car went back 6 times before they sorted it

  • 2 weeks later...

What happened Rob?

I went back yesterday for a service and to get them to pull out the (broken) stereo again. When I turned up they announced they actually wanted the car for the day as the warranty bits for the throttle problem I had have arrived early.

Shame as if they had rung me I could have sorted transport and left the car there all day, but as they could not be arsed to tell me I could only spend a couple of hours waiting twiddling my thumbs, not all day. God I think I would have killed someone.

They even tried to get me to come in in 10 days time to get the driveshaft problem fixed (another warranty issue) but when I pointed out that if we leave it a nother week I can get the stereo and the warranty work done in one go "gosh thats a good idea" :headhurt: That's my problem in a nutshell - they don't think about customers' business needs. I can't be the only person in Cardiff who is not able to just pop along to a dealer every couple of weeks.

Feel sorry for ya chap...... biggest problem is that the dealers are mostly used to a service on the run of the mill stuff with the level of customer service that goes with it. Z owners expect a bit more

Missus had hers in for service recently and I had cause to ring and point a few issues out after we got the car back but did they care not a bit  and our local stealer is supposed to be one of the better ones!!

Any news on getting the driver seat leather changed? I have exactly the same problem with mine, it has only done 15K miles and it looks worse than a 20 year old mercedes. The top layer (mines oragne) is starting to wear off, which I think is ridiculous.....

I have a problem with my T.C. it comes on when im not even driving hard??

Im not sure if its down to the 30 profile tyre ijhave on the rear

(275-30-19) but every time i take a left hand corner the slip light comes on and cuts power etc.

They couldnt find anything wrong with it In the dealer so im either gonna have to wait till it gets worse or just turn the Trac of every time..
