Paintwork ageing - differences showing

A few months ago, when I was asking my local touch-up artist for a quote, he pointed out that the front and rear bumpers has a slight shade difference to the adjacent metal panels.

I'm now noticing this difference is becoming more noticeable. It seems that as the paint is ageing, it is being affected differently on metal and non-metal panels. Its noticeable on the bumpers, not so much on the sills (unless you are in the habit of lying on the ground a lot), and particularly on the fuel filler cap.

Before I start berating my stealer, it would be useful to know if anyone else has noticed this in their Z, and, if so, what colours are affected. (Mine is UY).

Over to you guys...

on my Sunset car I can notice a slight variation on bumper to bodywork, but on a visit to a local dealer I could see ever car was the same :scare:

The azure colur seems the worst with the filler cap a lot different in shade to the rest of the car.. I dont tghink the dealers going to do anything or else they will have to respray ever car in the UK B)

This is a tricky one, the cause is that the bumpers and other plastic components on all cars are usually manufactured and painted in a specialist plant, therefore the paint is NEVER a perfect match. It should not however fade at a different rate so the differences should stay consistent between the two areas as the paint ages.

bad news is now that you have picked this up it will drive you nuts cos you will start noticing this everywhere :)

Cheers

Call me stupid if you like, but isn't this to do with the paint effect? Ie a pearlescent (all the colours bar Chilli & Kuro which are [i think] metallic). Don't pearls have a "flip" in them which makes the paint look different depending on the angle/light?
