Martin W Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I've had a quick search and thinking of doing something worthwhile this afternoon.... service manual says Engine cover - off Plenum - off Coils - off Change plugs seems like it could be more than a 5 minute job! Quote
mac1984 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Just done them on my Z. There pretty easy, I took off the strut brace and engine cover for better access. Its abit fiddley holding the wiring harness out of the way while you remove the ignition coil and get the spark out and back in. Have fun. Quote
Martin W Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 another instance of overly lengthy service instructions eh! Quote
martinmac Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Looks like I may have competition Rob, see Mings bumped post Quote
H5 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Assuming the only other tools needed are a plug socket? Quote
mac1984 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Yeah spark plug socket, 10mm for engine cover and coil pack bolt, and 14mm for strut brace bolts. Quote
sunset350z Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 It's a straight forward job. Absolutely no need to take the plenum off!! Quote
H5 Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 No, I didn't go for it yesterday. The car is in for it's service today so when I get it back I might have a go this evening..... Quote
Chris`I Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 another instance of overly lengthy service instructions eh! Its well known that their process is more than it needs to be. Dan Perkins dont follow it, I knew that because all my gounding wires were in exactly the same place (I mean exactly! You couldnt have got them back to where they were) so they didnt remove the plenum Quote
