Stew Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Unbelievable story. If it was in a film, you'd say 'yeah right, as if that would happen!' Quote
Beavis Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Unbelievable story. If it was in a film, you'd say 'yeah right, as if that would happen!' +1 And most end in diasaster with everyone killed because of a faulty switch or a blown fuse, not a double engine failiure!! Though i will reserve judgement on a double bird strike caused this until it is confirmed. Quote
Randomfry Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 The company i work for makes the systems that controls the engine on that particular plane. So we're all hoping it was a flock of geese. Quote
martinmac Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Amazing story, they were very lucky. A friend of mine is flying for the first time next week and he is a tad worried now. The pilot did a great job there. Quote
bronzee Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 The pilot did a great job there. He certainly did, irrespective of what the cause was. Great presence of mind to ditch it in the water. Imagine how catastrophic it may have been otherwise. Given what's been said thus far, he is obviously a highly experienced pilot. Quote
sunset350z Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I think anybody with an ounce of brains, controlling a clapped out plane, in that situation, would be looking to ditch it in the water. Quote
