Best way to swap registration plates

pbishop

Recommended Posts

I've recently bought a UK registered GT4.

I'm shortly going to be swapping over the previous owners plates, and replacing them with mine. I've had a quick look, and they seem to be fairly well glued on.

Can anyone give any advice on the best way to remove the existing plates, and fix the replacements.

Obviously, I'm keen to avoid any damage to the car.

Thanks ...

A jigsaw and then sandpaper........

Kidding.

Heat the glue and use dental floss. Get as much off as possible and then just use number plate sticky pads. I find these as good as anything.

+1 The wife's hairdryer or a fan heater will soften up the adhesive nicely.

Perfect.

Thanks for the advice.

So, I'll raid the bedroom, and borrow the wife's thinest g-string and hairdryer. Nothing to worry about love, I'm just off to the garage for a bit....

 Nice one

...then get some dental floss and gradually work this between the adhesive pad and the bodywork :D
