Yup its a gps receiver.... But looks like one for an aftermarket... I thought the Nissan one was "built in"?

Looks like you've got retrofitted Nav. My Zed came with that and yes that is the GPS reciever. I got mine removed at a discount as I was going to put my carpc in there. My GPS reciever was on the rear strut brace though. They certainly are crap at fitting these things!

bloody hell. The nav dosent work either. Its goin in on mon to be fixed. Where is the ir eye for the remote?

ok. Pulled some dashboard away, found the infared eye, floating behind.

 

Now it works, Not too happy with the fitting though!

When Westway Nissan "removed" mine, I found the IR eye/on switch in the dash, the GPS reviever still attached at the back and a whole load of wiring in the central armrest/tunnel!!! Nissan are shocking in this country! Good job they dont put the car together

Looks like the external antenna for a Tom Tom.

 

I have placed mine there..

 

Tom Tom 700 fits in to the Sat Nav compartment and the antenna lead feeds from the back through a hole that the rubber mat hides and sits nicely on the dash.

 

Big picture, by the way, had to take my glasses OFF to see it

I would be suprised if Nissan would touch it and more supprised if they could fix it!!

 

Does it give a makers name on the Sat Nav / DVD drive or on the screen when it starts?

Xnavi or somethin like that on the box. Birdview on the remote.

 

Now i know whats goin on i can sort it at least.

Probly sell it all on ebay and go car pc.

Its the same as the Birdview sat nav I had in my car before Nissan removed it. It is a Nissan fit, but I think its retro fit by the stealer rather than on the car when it arrives. As i say the unit is the same that was in mine as is the remote and its IR eye and the GPS reciever is teh same except mine was ontop of the strut brace out back rather than the dash.
