Removing Carbon Mirror Covers

What is the best way to remove Carbon fibre mirror covers? 
 

I managed to misalign one when installing it and would like to remove it and reinstall. 
 

What type of 3M tape do I need to buy to reinstall?

I would warm with a hair dryer or pour hot water on the cover. To reinstall I would use the following:

 

Tip for fitting, do a couple dry runs before removing the backing take. Get that muscle memory going.
