Hi,

I have my Z for only 6 months now, last owner got ceramic clutch and it just feels like **** to drive. It's quite hard to push down, but that's alright. (Already ordered new Stoptech slave cylinder, but might not be the problem) Worst is finding the bite point, it's like at 20% of pedal is that okay? Also found out last month when I drove into my garage that there's ticking when car is in neutral, but once I push the clutch down it or get it into gear the sound stops. I've read it could be bad bearings any ideas?

Thanks Alex

As far as I know the clutches in these cars tend to sit quite high, so if it's at the bottom 20% there might be an issue, or it could just do with some adjustment. I had a new clutch quite recently and the engagement point is high.

As for the sound you're hearing, is it a ticking or more like a rattle? Does it sound like this video at about 30 seconds in? -

If so it's nothing to worry about, just flywheel chatter. Look at the YouTube comments and they explain it in more depth. Since I upgraded to a lightened flywheel mine makes the same noise, its' quite possible the previous owner did the same thing when replacing the clutch? It's especially noticeable when surrounded by walls in a garage etc.

Oh my :D the noise is just spot on, same as mine. Happy to hear that! Thank you very much!

The "characterful" transmission is part of the charm. Mine had the change in noise when the clutch was released/depressed - if memory serves, it's the release bearing, but you don't have a problem until the shifting is impacted.
