jamiebridge Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 I noticed today that my exhaust heat shield was hanging on by a thread as the metal around the bolt heads had corroded and created larger holes. I tried to remove the bolts to fabricate some large washers and re attach it, but when undoing the bolts all the heads just sheared clean off. Its currently off the car, does anyone know what its shielding? Can i just leave it off? It seems its only protecting the boot floor and thats really far away from the exhaust, I cant see its near the fuel tank? Thanks Quote
Exec Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 You mean the cat heatshields? Mine are pretty much half a heat shield each as they've rusted away. I haven't got round to removing them altogether or replacing them. Some members have removed them completely I believe. Quote
