has anyone sold a private plate through a reg transfer company?

has anyone sold their private reg plate on a retention certificate through a reg transfer company and if so how did it go? did you receive your money etc?

 

Reg transfers have informed me they have sold reg and want me to sign and send a POA (power of attorney) letter and my reg certificate to them and then i will get paid once DVLA confirm to them that it has been transferred to the new owner!

 

am i being to dubious? just feel like i could get ripped off?

if you are buying a reg from them then yes your right. but once I send them my certificate and POA they could sign it over to them and i have no rights then from what i can work out.

I think you'll just have to have faith. They've been around for 35 years and are well established. It's highly unlikely they'd risk throwing away their rep for a £500 plate.

 

As long as everything is documented, then you should have plenty of evidence should you need to go to court.
