Fitting Double din with s/wheel controls???

Hi guys. I've tried searching both on the forum and in Tapatalk but cannot find what I need to know.

I'm looking to get shot of the skippy bose unit next week and have an aftermarket double din cd unit fitted.

Does anyone know exactly what I'll need in order to fit a new double din unit and retain steering wheel controls?

Thanks in advance!

*Edit* I should also note that my brother works at Halfrauds and I get decent discount so ideally I need to know if I'll need a new cage and facia etc? I know I need a connector for the steering wheel controls but not sure which one or if it varies by manufacturer?

Hi all,

I'm in much the same position as Shifty. I'm about to use Halfords to replace the original Bose head unit in my Z GT with a Pioneer unit. The techie I'm dealing with reckons there's no problem hooking up the steering wheel controls for the volume and "next track" etc. but reckons the phone answer button is a no-no. Does anyone know if that's correct or is there a workaround for this as I'd really like to keep the steering wheel button operational. Thanks in advance for any info.

i did this in mine 03 import so had to fit the steering controls and splice some wires the volume up and track forward works.

the other buttons dont but for the life of me cant find any other of getting it to work properly, so yes it can be done and i would imagine if you have the controls as standard should work fine but again i dont think the phone otipons will work.
