Fuel tank query

I feel silly even writing this but it's something I thought about and can't work it out. Our cars have a single fuel tank that goes over the prop and exhaust? How does the fuel get distributed evenly on bith sides? From empty for example if I put 5 litres in, does all of that go to just one side of the tank or 2.5l on each side and how?

YouTube wasn't my friend sadly.

When you fill the tank, fuel initially goes into the side of the tank nearest the filler. When the level in that side rises above the hump, fuel goes into both sides of the tank. During operation, the fuel pump draws fuel from only one side of the tank. However, part of the output of the pump flows through a jet nozzle connected to a siphon tube. The siphon tube draws fuel from the opposite side of the tank.
