Immobiliser drama

Hi guys,

Short of it: Immobiliser malfunction (light solid red when key turned to 'on' position). Engine cranks but doesn't start. Remote lock/unlock works fine.

Context: Car valeted at Leller's in London (because I happened to be there). Get called as I'm having a beverage round the corner - "car won't start mate". Give it a go, as above. They push the thing into the road and leave me to get on with my life (and take my money, grumble). RAC man rocks up some time later, plugs in the laptop of hope. "Can't tell you, our system is too generic for security issues. Looks like the immobiliser though. Best take it to the Nissan dealer." And they drop me and the zed off in Milton Keynes, at my humble abode.

Attempts to resolve:

1) Kayla (from the forum) and her good man Ash kindly arrive to give me a hand (was trying to get to Japfest on Sunday), we try re-syncing the key to the car, resetting the immobiliser from the manual. We then try putting my key in Kayla's key fob, sync and...vroom! Success. Drive it more neatly to my front door, all fine. Turn engine off, on again to check. Problem has returned, can't get it started since.

2) Call Nissan, best they can do is 9th of May with a minimum of £114 to 'have a look'. Booked in, but will cancel if I can find something better.

3) I've spoken to half a dozen 'auto locksmith' type folks, as well as one that specialises in immobilisers. Best I've got is "We can come and have a look, at the least point you in the right direction", for £65. One chap suggested the valet my have got water on something, being over a day from the issue, I can't detect any dampness, but can't rule it out.

Really gutted, as with no courtesy car, I'm a little screwed getting to work (train is a fair walk from here, luckily I can work from home for a few days).

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions to get me back on the road? I'm willing to pay for someone that knows their stuff to come out, if they are willing! Furzton, Milton Keynes.

Fingers crossed!

Hey Oliver have you tried www.ecutesting.com. If you have an ECU problem they pretty much guarantee to find it. They rebuild ECU's or at the bare minimum test all of the internal components to find if there are any faults or components that need replacing. Every ECU they work on comes with an unlimited lifetime guarantee and any replaced parts are of a higher spec than OEM.

I have no affiliation with his company neither do I know anyone who works there. I just know a few friends who have used them and can't praise them highly enough.

Good Luck.

To add, their service looks great and for the price of a new immobiliser free ecu (£120) would've been a great option! Sadly it doesn't look like they do the 350 (or 370) models. Thanks again for he suggestion though.
