Sat Nav update/external media input

So let's face it, an in built sat nav is never going to be fully up to date.

I've managed to track down a 'back up' disc on eBay for a few quid for the 2011-2013 maps which will probably do me for a while.

Ideally I'd like to tap into the screen wiring so that I can use it as a second screen for my phone (then use waze!). I've seen one website that seemed to have a system but said it was for 09-10 Zeds. I've got an 08 so pretty sure it won't work. If anyone has any ideas I'd be massively grateful!

would be very interested in this myself, I changed HU to double din with screen mirroring and an app mode and doesnt appear that sony phones are doing this at the moment (Ironic as I heard sony are the main brains behind the development) mines an 05 plate so even less chance me thinks!

Anyone know any info on this?

I've been looking around on other forums too and not come up with much. I have found a wiring diagram for the sat nav display and I'm reading up about what type of wires make up a VGA cable to see if the two 'could' match up. Seems like it might work just cutting the video feed and wiring in the video from a VGA cabe off of an iPhone to VGA converter.
