could someone please tell me which fuse controls the radio as i think it has blown in my car the door on the fuse box has no sticker

I've just had a frustrating few minutes loooking on an official workshop manual and cant find any mention of fuses or fuse diagrams

checked the manual and the handbook and it doesnt list the fuses (or fusible links as they call them)

checked 350z tech aswell - nothing

The following may be of use - from the service manual:

 

 

BASE SYSTEM

Refer to Owner's Manual for audio system operating instructions.

 

Power is supplied at all times

 

through 15A fuse [No. 37, located in the fuse and fusible link box]

to audio unit terminal 6.

With the ignition switch in the ACC or ON position, power is supplied

through 10A fuse [No. 6, located in the fuse block]

to audio unit terminal 10.

 

Ground is supplied through the case of the audio unit.

When of audio switch is pushed, audio signals are supplied

 

through audio unit terminals 1, 2, 3, 4, 13, 14, 15, and 16

to terminals 1 and 2 of driver door speaker and passenger door speaker

to terminals 1 and 2 of Rear speaker LH and RH

to terminals 1 and 2 of tweeter (driver side) and tweeter (passenger side).

 

 

 

BOSE SYSTEM

CD auto-changer (built into audio unit) operation is controlled by audio unit.

Refer to Owner's Manual for audio system operating instructions.

 

Power is supplied at all times

 

through 15A fuse [No. 37, located in the fuse and fusible link box]

to audio unit terminal 6, and

to BOSE speaker amp. terminal 11.

through 15A fuse [No. 17, located in the fuse block ]

to woofer terminal 8.

 

 

With the ignition switch in the ACC or ON position, power is supplied

 

through 10A fuse [No. 6, located in the fuse block ]

to audio unit terminal 10,

through audio unit terminal 12

to BOSE speaker amp. terminal 41 and

through BOSE speaker amp. terminal 32

to woofer amp. terminal 6.

So from what i gather from your reply there are three seperate fuses controlling the radio ...I ask this as I am not getting power to the unit from the switching power lead ( red ) So the fuses located in the engine bay and next to the peddle box should be where i should look ..

 

I had a quick check through them and they seemed ok but they must be faulty as there is still no power coming throught to the red lead ...

 

 

my other problem is that when the sva work was carried out they fitted a band expander and spliced into the lead controlling the dash illumination .. I removed the band expander as my new radio is made for the uk .. is the power for the illumination carried by the same lead as the radio (red switching ) as this too is now not working?

I think you'll find there are two separate fuselink boxes beside the battery - have you checked them both? One of them is a bit harder to locate apparently, and I haven't even tried. I got a local auto electrician to sort a fuse problem with the power socket, and that was eventually where he found the blown fuse.
