I spotted a GM coupe joining Mundels roundabout, Welwyn Garden City this morning. Flashed (my lights)

When I got mine, the standard horizontal cover was missing. I got in touch with the previous owner and she still had it in the shed, so I managed to get hold of it. Its fine – it hides everything in the back part of the boot. Of course the front part is on show to all. I call this bit “the shelfâ€, and it is only ever used for temporary storage.

Had a cracking day and my best run was a 14.7 which I was well chuffed with from a stock roadster.
Very well done

This is a repost, but thought you would be interested...

If you haven't already, think about registering for the Street Challenge. Its free and you get a record of your times on the web site. I didn't know about it until after I been.
-
14.6 was my best time. TC off worked best for me.
I could do with going back and having another go, because with a bit of practice I'm sure I could get a lot more out of the first 60 ft.

Are they legal, are they dangerous and what are the benifits of having them?

You guys are getting deaf in your old age(s).
In all seriousness, the zed is not the quietest place in the world to be. If you put the engine / exhaust / road noise together with the aircon at full blast, and add in the radio loud enough to hear over the top of it all, the gentle ticking of the indicators doesn’t stand a chance.
-
I hear the tick tock of the indicators just fine and I got a K1!!!
Well I can only assume you are not pushing it hard enough Try pressing the pedal on the right.
-
non self canceling indicators.
That doesn't sound right. All the ones I've driven here (17) all flick off when they should.
They do flick off, but the steering lock required to make it happen is a little more on the zed than some other cars. So there are times when you would expect them to flick off, but they don’t. This coupled with the fact that the visual and audio indications are not the best, I think most people here will have left the indicators on by mistake more than once.
-
I reckon some nasty torque steer would make it feel more like a big heavy muscle car.
May I point out its rear wheel drive.
-
I hate that when talking to people, blokes aswell as girls that don't know there cars, the women at work, family etc, and they ask what car you drive, and you say Nissan 350z, they look at you blankly, you know they're thinking Micra. You know if you said bmw, boxster, tt, they would say cool. But it is good that they aren't common I guess, its a car you need to show people, and let them hear it!
I've never got that Perhaps it’s the people I talk to? I normally get a very positive reaction and quite a lot of jealousy

Nice one. I'll try to make it.

Please can you tell me 'honestly' what the best thing is about your Zed and then tell me the worst.
The best thing is the feeling when you are accelerating hard in 2nd or 3rd gear and the acceleration is just so smooth and keeps on going
Worst thing – no glove compartment in the front. You’ll get over it

A standard looking azure blue coupe, 55 plate, and another blue coupe with a body kit, a white stripe down the side and a personal number plate.

I had this problem last year - chipped the windscreen....
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15108
I tried to claim compensation, but was refused because they said that either I or the other car had been doing more than 10mph. Not that they had any proof of this, but I didn’t have proof that we weren’t.
I took it as far as writing to my MP, and although I ultimately got nothing out of it, at least it made the senior bods in Herts Highways sit up and take notice. I also got hold of the address of the contractors that did the work and sent a letter to them. I got a nice letter back from their solicitors.
The best thing we can do is make a fuss. If everyone makes claims and writes letters, they will eventually get the message and stop this stupid and dangerous “so called maintenanceâ€.
