Funny that everyone at work has been telling me to try and claim for a new set of wheels and tyres and skirts etc, etc..... Call me a wuss but i dont want to skank anyone, i just want the claim to be sorted asap and my car back to normal!
-
Looks like i may have to stick the standard wheels on for a bit and pray that no one sees me driving about and that the council pay up quick
-
Well ive just heard back from the alloy repair company and they say that from the pictures i emailed them they dont think they can repair the wheels which im a little surprised at, seeing as its just the polished lip that needs reshaping. So unfortunately it looks like im going to need to buy 2 new wheels, and then try to claim back the money later, although i could put my old non rays back on for the mean time! but the car would look soooooooooo @*!# with the kit and standard wheels! -i hate our crap roads!

Well im going to have to drive it from my parents house back to mine tonight which is only 5mins away, ill check the tyre pressures and drive like a granny to get it home. Ive emailed an alloy repair company to see what they think and im going to get it on a ramp at work 2morrow and ask one of my mechanics to have a look at the inside edge of the wheels. Fingers crossed there isnt any more damage that i dont know about! Oh and thankyou for all your comments

I have a clear pic of the depth of the hole with a tape measure, and the name of the road, when i told the guy he seemed to know exactly where i was talking as it had been reported last month but he said that on the notes it said that the hole had been marked with a yellow arrow to warn people but i have pictures showing no arrow what so ever, so either someone didnt actually mark it or it had washed off.
-
Yeah i think your right Digsy, i might email the pics to a alloy wheel repairer but i havnt a clue if they could be repaired, im gutted really as they are only about 5 months old. To be fair to the guy on the phone he was relly helpfull which i really wasnt expecting.

Well after cleaning my wheels twice a week every week and avoiding every curb when parking to keep my lovely 20's in mint condition my luck ran out. I hit a MASSIVE pothole last night that was full of water. I pulled over to see that both my nearside wheels were bent and my Veilside V3 skirt was split underneath. I only know it was a pothole as i went back to the road this morning armed with a camera and tape measure! I've just phoned the council to find that the same pothole was reported a month ago, and they are sending me out a claims form. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of thing before? Should i wait to see what they say first or should i start looking for 2 more rims and try to claim back the money later? As yet the tyres havnt deflated but i really dont fancy driving it with buggered wheels! but i dont have the cash spare to buy 2 more! Cheers for any advice you can give me

Easier definately! But you must be able to get more reliable and cheaper BHP out of the 2JZ than the VQ, and how unique to have a Supra powered Zed!
-
THOSE YANKS ARE MENTAL, I BET THIS ZED WOULD BE AN ABSOLUTE ANIMAL! 2JZ SUPRA LUMP. I'D LOVE TO HAVE AN ENGINE LIKE THIS IN MY ZED I BET IT SOUNDS AND GOES LIKE MENTAL! WHAT A WEAPON!

Oh yeah i hadnt thought of that! Although ive been thinking about getting a super low one for a while so if any one can reccomend one let me know

Guys bit of a weird one, I was planning on removing my wheels 2day to give them a good old waxing ready for the winter weather, but when i tried to use the Nissan jack it was hitting on my Veilside skirts before it even came close to the jacking points! Its the first time ive tried to use the jack since having my kit fitted. I know you can buy super low jacks for very low cars but i thought id see if you guys could reccomend a good one? preferably a compact one that i could possibly squeeze in the boot seeing as the standard one is useless!! Cheers fellow Zed gods!

CALLING ALL AZURE BLUE OWNERS.......I NEED YOUR HELP!!
breay replied to breay's topic in Paint & Protection
Oh my god don't say that!! My sprayer is already more than pi**ed off with it as its probably cost him more money than he's charging me in labour and materials to do it twice! hes only willing to give it one more go in water based and if it doesnt work its game over! -
CALLING ALL AZURE BLUE OWNERS.......I NEED YOUR HELP!!
breay replied to breay's topic in Paint & Protection
Yeah sorry well my sprayer used the ford diamond white as an example, he said that there is about 10 different variants of the same colour but the azure has only one according to his suppliers. Im hoping that the balls up is just down to the 2 different paint systems being used. -
CALLING ALL AZURE BLUE OWNERS.......I NEED YOUR HELP!!
breay replied to breay's topic in Paint & Protection
Well as far as i know there is only one shade of the azure blue (B17) which is partly the reason why its confusing us. Although, in solvant, the paint swatch was way too dark but once sprayed on the car was way too light. Thinking about it its probably inpossible to match a colour spot on at the best of times let alone trying to get a match using 2 different paint systems. My original bumpers, fuel cap and towing cover are all slightly different colours anyway! but to be honest if the kit ends up looking the same as the originals then i'd be happy as i know different materials will look slightly different once sprayed. Like i said any other help/feedback would be appreciated as its doing my head in! -
I have a complete standard system (cat back) all wrapped up in my loft, so no chance of any corrosion or rust. And im in Kent, just so you know!

CALLING ALL AZURE BLUE OWNERS.......I NEED YOUR HELP!!
breay replied to breay's topic in Paint & Protection
Thanks for all your input guys, it looks like i may be getting to the bottom of the problem. After talking to a couple of bodyshops and Mr Phil the most likely problem is that my bodyshop is using 'solvent' based paint instead of 'water based' paint that 99% of body shops use these days. So hopefully this is the problem??? Can any one confirm that this is probably the cause??? If anyone can shed any more light on the situation then please let me know. Also a couple of people have indicated that spray nozzles used and the direction the paint is applied ie horizontal/ vertical could produce a different affect, but i'm assuming that would be like telling my body shop how to suck eggs??? -
