Since COVID, it’s all about single use products again. The environmental angle has been forgotten now there’s a second thing to pay any attention to.

Sadly it is. There is that company that takes difficult to recycle plastic mixes and changes them back to oil which is cool but a bit late in the day. How often have you seen single use masks on the footpaths or roads. Bad news isn't it.

I expect at hospitals they have to be burnt for safety reasons.

In the same way that holding a metal spoon in your mouth will stop you crying when peeling onions? Don't ask Blue Peter I think Circa 1979?

I forgot to add you shouldn't really be using Tin as a protective hat material its not very environmentally friendly or sustainable. You need to go for a vegan friendly alternative say the velour seats from a 1991 Vauxhall Cavalier (re-purpose, reuse, rejoice!) :surrender:

More than madness, its actively encouraging people to get it as if a fat 74 year old can beat it in 2 days, never mind the fact hes still contagious but not taking any precautions at all.

Wouldnt wish death on anyone but what hes doing is getting me very, very close, as always its terrifying they let him get away with it.

I agree. Like I said earlier I don't wish this on anyone not even that muppet but he is telling the idiots its ok to carry on look at me I am fine and not potentially killing anyone near me!

What they should do is this in East Java and that is not just people who don't wear masks but for idiots who think they can just carry on as normal be made to bury the ones who have died of Covid. Damn fine idea focus their mind. (Steps off soapbox)

No surprise then, small matter of a few teeny factors of course? Pandemic, unemployment, cost of living, taxes on anything that is not powered by Angels wings or generates gases from its bottom?

There might be some bargains around if you wait long enough, although I don't want to wait forever before I see a 400 Z on these shores!

Do you know how you caught the virus Stan ?

We got it from my daughter's school, after doing some reverse investigation. Turns out one of the boys in her class had been skiing in Italy apparently? This was at the end of February.

She had a temperature, sore throat, constant cough and it lasted about 10 days I only just managed to keep her temperature settled with Calpol etc.  We took her to the doctor because it was going on longer than normal and he thought she had a virus of some sort but just said to carry on as we are.

Of course then me and my missus got it. NHS111 was fun on hold I can tell you.

    Just look after yourselves people.

  8. After seeing the news / video of him today, if he has suddenly recovered after a few days I tend to think it's fake after all?

When we had it, thankfully symptoms were mild but we all suffered for about 2 weeks but didn't get back to normal  health until at least a month later and we had no gold standard medical cover just paracetamol and sleep.

In fact it's taken me about 3 months to feel normal again (whatever normal is)

So let's see next week, I mean honestly I couldn't care less about him or American politics in general but I do find it odd timing?

At some point we will discover the past few years, Brexit, Boris, Trump, Putin and all the other weird stuff that's happened around the World was merely a large scale test in a Trueman Show scenario. Where is the edge of that stage I wonder? In the Bermuda Triangle?

lol what the ZED should be minus the V8. A 2+2 V8 is not a bad thing for a GT version. What a shame it never reached the market.

Still needs an exhaust to open it up though

They still say it will be made and sold next year but EV only I think.

By the time they do we shall probably have hover boards.

The PowerWall is Lithium Ion but very pricey - there are cheaper options, and if you don't have an EV you don't need 14kWh either.

Interestingly it looks like I used 3500kWh of electricity to charge the EV, 99% of that is at home. So if you take away our home electricity usage it shows our home electricity usage was about 3000kWh, so our relatively small 4KW solar PV panels covers nearly 90% of home electricity usage!!

Am going to add another 3-5KW of solar panels to the house at somepoint in future, we should be able to achieve near 100% off grid usage excluding EV charging at some point :).

Thanks for the information something I might consider.

I was thinking about converting my old VW Beetle to EV so maybe consider the power wall about that time but it's years off yet.

But masks don’t stop you getting the Rona, they stop others getting it ;) I know plenty of folks who have worn masks who have got it, sadly until everyone wears one there’s a risk regardless. Hand washing and not touching your face seems far more critical to me.

I’ve already put my £10 on Trump winning again, hopefully he’ll do me proud again like he did last time!

I know mate but expect Biden did social distancing and following guidelines whilst Trump is 'ah sod it do what I like'.

Well anyway he is getting plenty of free world press cover now so it's probably having the desired effect.

£10? What?!!! So it's your fault he got in last time!

We've had our PowerWall installed for 11 months now. Even with just 14kWh usable, and charging an EV, we have been able to shift our electricity usage to 'off peak' rate 93% of the time.

Interestingly with a relatively small 4KW solar PV panel with non ideal facing it generated 43% of our total electricity usage - which again including charging an EV. Without charging the EV I recon the solar PVs would have covered 80%+ of our electricity usage.

Am not sure using your car EV battery to grid shift makes much though versus just getting some home batteries.

Thanks for that information it's very interesting. When we moved to this house it had old solar panels on the roof but I think they were for hot water heating not electricity, think they must have been from the 90s maybe earlier.

Got rid plus the massive panels and boiler setup, took up so much space.

I probably would consider off grid stylie electricity though but not through an EV which I don't own.

Out of curiosity what type of batteries are they lead acid or lithium?

Quite a lot of advisors are now testing positive, linked to a recent meeting where social distancing wasn’t adhered to nor masks (but accept you can’t have a sensible meeting with them on)

Well seeing the news today looks a different story. Funny how Biden has tested negative, you know who wore a mask.

Oh well hope they all get better.

Right time to get into my Stang yeeeehaaaw boy !!!!!

I've gone off the back of the maser now, it would need to be sharper these days but it's a lovely car and would certainly drive people wanting to own one (actually owning things is a different topic) but instead they went off and built a limited supercar that nobody will ever get the chance to own :(

That's the issue these things are designed 5 years before then they faff about by the time it's ready to come out its a bit old hat because things have moved on? The French are experts at knocking stuff out super fast.

  15. I have decided to drag myself into the present age by having a go at 2 pack paint. I used Celly for years but as I already have 2 pack on my van decided to give it a go after hearing how well it goes on and no need for endless flatting down as with celly.

I also invested in a full air fed face mask with filters plus extra trap filters before the facemask filters and a full spray suit, taking my health seriously with this stuff I know its evil.

I have a mixing rule to get the proportions spot on and a few guns, my general purpose Devilbliss and a teeny Chinese copy for small areas such as air vents and for doing wheels (its an aircooled VW with awkward bits shall we say.)

Right so this stuff once you mix it, there is a set time before it sets, so its like araldite for painting? I think the pot life is 5 hours for the paint I have so presume I need to use that up or chuck it before then, ensuring I clean the gun well beforehand?

When it comes to painting is there a specific technique that is different for 2 pack against celly? The paint I am using will be ready gloss single coat not base plus clearcoat. Consistency wise (not mixed any yet) is it quite thin or thick compared to celly and does it tend to run?  When you peel the masking tape away do you do it when its touch dry or wet for the final coat?

I am also trying out epoxy primer for the first time too rather than etch primer? Is that good?

Did some research online and watched some youtube videos but you can't beat someone who has used it for advice?

I don't intend to do this for a business, so I wont be going mad, its just to get my classics back on the road, in time for electrification! :surrender:

Any top tips gratefully received, thanks in advance. :)

Given that he has just spent the previous week saying that Joe had been wasting his time with wearing masks, and has had smaller rallies due to social distancing and that the disease is pretty much on the run - I cannot imagine that then pretending to catch it would land him a positive outcome!

Well that's what normal sensible people would think however Trump seems to live in his own fantasy world doesn't he! :surrender:

The first thing that crept into my mind when I saw this was - really? Suddenly and maybe conveniently he is tested positive?

Did you see that Chanel 4 investigation the other night where they actively targeted voters categorising them into specific types based on their FB profiles and other info. I mean imagine if the Nazi's had that tech!

Well if they are prepared to do that, they are prepared to come up with this.

Remember how everyone was slagging off Boris during the start of the pandemic, then when he caught it (and I don't doubt he did) everyone stopped calling him and turned around to support him? Maybe some US advisor noticed that and thought hmm something we can use if we need to get extra votes? I really wouldn't put it past them?

Anyway I don't wish Covid on anyone no matter how evil or stupid they are (we had it in April thankfully mild, but it scared the pants off me!)

    Steps off soapbox.

Because I don't like Apple stuff and I only use my phone for net surfing and controlling my smart house.

Also irrespective of hardware specs, the software is what makes it a great phone.

Only cost me £599, as opposed to nearly a grand for the top end phones. Also get a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 35 ii headphones for free with it.

Sounds like a good deal! :D

After apple trashed my iphone 6 with a software update years ago and nobody could fix it I gave up on apple stuff and never looked back!

I went back to Motorola (yes Lenovo now) but had their cheapo G series ever since and happy.

Currently a Moto G8 Plus that came out this year £220 bargain, does what everyone else does, great sound and camera (for my needs anyway) and I don't watch films on it why wreck my already wrecked eyes on a small screen.

Moto G6 Plus before that which is now my daughters but I keep reminding her its still mine so look after it.

Coincidentally we got her an Ipad Pro this year just installed IOS 14 on it last night, against my better judgement but she was insistent, today nothing but messenger works apparently. Kids eh! Apple eh!
