  1. All

I have just noticed that there are some grey patches on the leather seats where I have been sat in them with sun screen on my arms :scare:

This has obviously dried in to the leather now as I didn't spot it at the time...

What is the best method of restoring the seats back to black loveliness?

    Thanks for your help

    Glen

Any decent sofa shop should be able to sell you a leather cleaner and sealer, we have the stuff of QVC

  2. Then why dont the authorities do something about the DVLA putting higher prices on plates that can spell various words/names when mis spaced.

The DVLA are encouraging these plates to be mis spaced by the high prices they put on them. Yet that seems perfectly legal....

So you pay the money for the plate, do exactly what the dvla know that you will do with the plate and have it made to read your name, and then you get fined for it.

It could almost be seen as the DVLA working in cahoots with the police in order to generate revenue...

Owners of cars parked at Coney without plates should be flogged!!

    Look familiar ? B)

  3. I had a rather angry spat with a traffic cop a couple of years ago over my dodgy plate, correct font (Charles Wright) and size...iffy spacing. He was that angry he put my number on their wanted system, he loved to inform me I would be stopped by any Police car with the plate recognition equipment. Over the next 12 months it happend 4 times aghh.

I had already made a legal set and another that I fitted that wasn't quite...but nearly - been ok touch wood!!.

If you don't know the MOT guy he will charge you to sign his name and you will need to go with legal plates of course - I was told at the time by the plod if you get caught a second time with an iffy plate you lose the registration. They also warn you if you buy a plate from the DLVA when you call to pay .... ummmm

I dont know if we will have to book in, 9 or 10 turning up will probably be a small number compared with the ramblers that may be about those parts. I havent been to the place, or at least not that I know of, but aerial shots seem to suggest its a pretty sizeable pub.

    I don't want to ramble....whooooshhhh :teeth:

    Are you coming? :)

Oh yes - custard car convoy...wouldn't miss that B)

  6. I've had my door resprayed where it was keyed. I've noticed that it now lacks the depth of the surrounding paintwork. Is this likely to be just a shoddy job or will some judicious detailing get it to look the same? Any thoughts?

Try some G3 and a mop, if the paint has orange peel you'll need to knock it back with 1200 W&D paper ( & soapy water ) paint shop should have done this anyway.

    Sounds shoddy to me

  7. Just catchin up on this Sinbad, defo a lucky escape fella. If that guy wanted the cash that bad he could of got it - simple as.

Fingers crossed for you mate, I can't believe she's still for sale either!

I've seen a few sellers on E*bay stating - if you pay by cash you must bring it to my bank and pay it in - seems a good idea, you get to find out if its genuine money and when they ask you where you obtained it you can say 'im 'ere! and point  maybe a bit OTT but might save you a load of agro in the future.

  8. No its just the phone you put any sim card in it then when you buy you get one year free consierge service then after that you pay optional 600 year if you still want use of the consierge service. But the phone is a collectors item as they only make limited amount and its a good investment as over the years it adds value to the phone so worth more on resale. Also it is vertually indistructable, the guy said you cant scratch it and you can drop it of a seven story building and it will be perfectly fine as good as new, they did a test and had a car run over it and there was not a scratch or malfunction in sight

Funnily enough I've never dropped mine off a seven storey building or run it over with a car :p

Just be honest, it's for pose value not economics or technical reasons :teeth:

but at least holds it money well

You keep telling your self that!!

I had an N95 a few months ago, supposed to be the dogs bits - too ruddy clever for me...its back in the cupboard and the pumpkin V3x is back out...wonder if they do an ultra yellow version

  9. I agree, that was too dodgy for words! We all know you will wait a long time to get the right car - what sort of person says I have to have it this weekend? He was definitely a 'wrong un'. You've had a lucky escape. It was probably either a stolen card or something to do with identity theft. Cash or bankers draft only. Remember with a bankers draft (branch cheque) the cash has already gone from the persons account, it is the bank that are paying you and as such cannot be cancelled. Any genuine person would be happy for you to talk to their bank and confirm it has gone from their account and is legit.

    Have at look here...

    http://www.met.police.uk/fraudalert/sec ... _fraud.htm

"As it is most likely an attempt at FRAUD with you as the intended victim. This is because a stolen cheque or bankers draft can be recalled by the bank even after the funds have gone through the clearing cycle and are showing on your account."

My advice - unless its a week day and you can confirm with the issuing bank the draft is genuine and not stolen...wait until you can....you WILL lose if it is a fraudulent transaction...you have no defence. Don't imagine for one moment the police or your bank will try to help you...you'll be on your own.

    Here endeth the lesson

  10. The paypal thing did it for me, especially as he drove a hard bargain on the price of the car yet was easily willing to pay for the fees. And again at the fact that he was reluctant to get the cash from the bank.

At the end of the day their was noooo way i was letting go of the car until the cash was in my bank.

i can appreciate that you feel somewhat like a sale has fallen through, but in reality you have averted a nasty brown-trouser moment in the future IMO

Thanks! I do feel like that alittle bit. I didnt get my hopes up too much though, i knew that my car wasn't sold until the money was in my bank.

Anyway she got a treating to some V power and a full valet today. took me 3 hours! with the rubbish weather we've had she's not looked this good in a while B)

    Just as a PS....

Even if you use cleared funds for a transaction ie cheque/bank draft and wait for clearance, if it was a fraudulant transaction ie stolen cheque/draft you may still lose your money...the bank wont lose theirs!

As for a bank TT (transfer) you should wait at least 24hrs after you receive your cleared payment as it can be recalled within this period and there is nothing you can do!! This was a new one on us - we had received payment into our business account and were about to ship the goods when I noticed a bank recall transferring the money back out of our account about 3 hours later...advice from the bank is wait 24hrs at least as the recall request needs to be presented within this time.

PayPal - forget the 90 days, if the payee disputes the transaction through their card company you will lose, PayPal will not defend the claim on your behalf.

Its a minefield - if you're not 100% happy with the transaction walk away, always better to lose the sale than lose the goods and the money.

    /Paul

  11. Coney Green, Clay Cross - I'd never seen a yellow 350Z before and it was parked opposite me....straight onto G**gle and read up on the GT4 info.

Sorry to say, I think it was certainly myself that has just dented your wallet then. Mine isnt at Coney Green that often as the missus has it as her car for work.

I do take it every now and then though, usually park it sideways under the windmill when I do.

It will be there again next Thursday as the missus is taking my car so her and a couple of friends can go shopping for the day.

Im more than willing to pop out any evening after work and have a chat if you like, any excuse to drive it

Yep its all ur fault - I'm the last unit under the windmill!! side on it looked stunning, never seen anything like it - bang on my door on Thurs

  12. Hi Paul,

Whereabouts are your business premises? I have a feeling I may know who that yellow one parked outside them might have been :lol:

Gordon L*mbs have got one so went for a peek a couple of weeks ago, needs paint and front alloys refurbing miles were high also, so gave it a miss...but it looked great even in the rain!!

Does the club keep any records of build dates (not reg dates) for GT4's I assume Nissan could probably knock out 176 in a single shift

If anyone local wants to show me theirs (car !!) before next weekend and give me a few pointers to lookout for on a GT4 I'd be grateful - I know the PS2 has gone but I don't want to find out later other things have too.

    Cheers /P

  13. Hi! & welcome ! :welcome:

Nice choice of colour - the best I reckon. Though of course Im not biassed in any way

These Yellow GT4s are starting to get a bit common round these parts! This will be the 4th I know of in the Chesterfield area. Clearly a town with good taste.

There are a few points that certainly need raising about this car. Firstly why has it been sat on the shelf for getting on two and half years?

I would hope that the price is CONSIDERABLY lower than any other new 350z, as has been said, there have been two further revisions of the Z since the GT4, although the GT4 does have the main component of the first change in 06, which is the engine.

In the future if you wish to sell, buyers may well want to know why this GT4 was left on the shelf for 2.5 years before being registered, so Id make sure you are 100% happy with the story you get from them on this point, and it would certainly be a story that many of us would like to hear Im sure.

Will the dealer/Nissan confirm that you will still have a full 3 year warranty from the time of purchase? I could see things being complicated if/when the dealer puts in a warranty claim to Nissan for a GT4 in 2010 for example.

Another minor issue - the original GT4's when new came with a Sony Playstation 2 and a copy of the GT4 game. As this is effectively a new car, then you want all the trimmings that came ith a new car - Im guessing in the 2.5 years this has been hanging around, the Playstation may have made its way from the boot and into some dealers kids bedroom - if thats the case then Id be asking them to get down to gamestation and pick one up - it should be in with the new car after all.

Other than the price, history/story then its still a cracking buy, and a great car. Im sure you will be more than happy with it, though can we agree to park at opposite ends of the line to each other at any meets around Chesterfield? - we dont want people thinking they are common

Dont forget, this GT4 will fall into the new (thanks Gordon) road tax braket, which will be £400 next year, and £300 this year. Most other GT4's, due to their registration date, are in the lower bracket (although they have the same engine). Possibly another haggling point with the dealer, get them to chuck in the difference perhaps?

    Hi all

I do intend to get a letter or provenance for the car from the UK Nissan dealer just to clarify a few points, plus it can only help with any future sale. Its just a colour thing...the yellow does it for me, I saw one outside my business premises a few months ago and that was that!

The PS2 has gone..checked that straight away, my understanding is the car was exported to Cyprus in 2005 to a Nissan dealers showroom and there it stayed until recently re-imported. With delivery miles and a 57 reg its still a fairly unique vehicle - it was never gonna be cheap and I know for a few £K more a trip down to the local Nissan dealer would get me the latest model, but to be quite honest I really wouldn't bother.

I had a red Evo VIII for half a day a couple of years ago...I wanted, I needed a yellow car and to me this is prettiest yellow beast you can buy.

    Cheers Paul
