  1. Hi any tips on doing this as its out of warranty (it a JDM) and I will have a go myself if its not to difficult.

    I presume the interior door card has to be removed to get at it - does anybody have any instructions how to do this, havent checked the guides yet it may be in there

  2. I had Nanking NSII's on my FTO, In the wet I might as well have been on an ice rink covered in oil - to use these on this car with this much power and RWD your committing suicide :scare: really dont get them if your after a cheap tyre go for khumo or falken

  3. My door is really clever its learned how to whistle at 70mph and above (not that I ever do that on public roads officer).

    coming from the window rubber contact but I'll be buggered if I can narrow it down, if I press on the window the gap widens and it stops whistling but lets more air in.

    Going to take the door seal off over weekend and refit see if it helps anybody else got any ideas

  4. To be fair the worst pad was about 75% worn but they did the usual garage thing saying the discs are marked and could do with changing but today wasnt a bad day, dry at least so I thought I get some pads and fit them. :boxing:

    I just went to the local motor factors as he had some mintex replacement pads in stock, fitted them in about 1.5hr and that with taking photos for a "how to guide", having a sticky guide pin, cleaning the calipers down and going to pick them up from the shop and two cups of tea :snack:

    Absolute doddle really, dont pay anybody to do this for you if you have a spare hour one day. :teeth:

  5. no Im not doing big mileage , I know the FPs are for over 18K a year but they are just the same as p services and they are cheaper - go figure also mines an import so no warranty to consider (fp1 doesnt have all the inspect parts but fp2 and fp3 same as P equiv)

    Looking at my service check sheet they did a P1 on it anyway but stamped book with FP1

    The girl on the service desk got confused as it was an import and has a mix of km and miles 40k on clock but 31K is km - so its only done 27K miles and its a march 05 so about average

    do know about L services got any info

  6. Alright guys - I've also got a JDM import - 35th anniversary model fitted with brembos (same as GT4) do these take the same pads as all uk spec Zeds, just had a service done and they estimate 80% wear so also on the look out for front pads, how much for a set of ferodo ds performance then ;)

  7. Ok here are the prices for service intervals for Evans Halshaw in Middlesbrough, cargo fleet lane.

    I've had a word with the customer service manager and he will reduce these prices by 15% for members they just need a copy of the confirmation Email he sent me - message me for a copy and tell him John told you about it on the owners forum

    P1 = £178 - 15% = 151.30

    P2 = £245 - 15% = 208.75

    P3 = £298 - 15% = 253.30

    FP1 = £148 - 15% = 125.80

    FP2 = £215 - 15% = 182.75

    FP3 = £268 - 15% = 227.80

    good prices with the discount me thinks and they will drop you off home, work or in Middlesbrough town centre and pick you up when its done

    :yahoo:

  8. Sorry may be a bit late.

    Im in Stockton and just had mine serviced and MOT at Evans Halshaw Nissan on Cargo fleet at Middlesbrough.

    Great service dropped car off and they brought me back home and picked me up 3.5hrs later - work complete and car all washed and interior hoovered.

    No added extras FP1 was £137

    I'll got all thier service price while I was there so I'll put the prices up later when I'm home from work

  9. Just to keep everybody up to speed, the problem was traced to a low level of the PAS fluid :headhurt:

    wasnt very low or empty just about 5 ml below the cold min level but I guess thats all it takes - topped up with dexton III PSF and all symptoms disappeared after a day or two :wacko:

  10. :welcome: to the club monkeygirl

    I suspect with your Z being a JDM that you don't have all the phone bits. You will need a cradle, vluetooth adaptor and the control unit. If you just have a lead with a white socket on the end in the glovebox then this is probably the case.

    Some more info here and what part you need to get

    or Mike she could just get a Tomtom with bluetooth included and you get sat nav and bluetooth for the price of (or more likely much cheaper) the nissan bluetooth bits and bobs - it will fit in you cubbyhole perfectly so you can hide it out of the way from the robbing thieving gypsies when you park up, but I'm getting off track

    Monkeygirl the previous post was implying that you get a new stereo (aka head unit) but as I pointed out you dont need to bother, just get the radio band expander fitted and for £30 your fantastic Bose unit will be up and running, the Bose stereo set up is not as great as you may think but its ok for most non high fidelity audiophiles. :p

    If I was you Id get the FM transmitter first, one that operates with at least 1 frequency below the Jap 90mHz max limit and see if it will work - it should do and its only £6 to £10 - this wont of course sort your radio out for that you need the Radio band expander :thumbs:

  11. I suppose only the 1 - ME :lol:

    Sorry H5 you left yourself wide open there

    I can only speak for myself as Ive got one fitted and my Bose picks up all FM stations, the only querk is that the radio stations appear at a lower frequency on the display eg Radio 1 is 80.6 on my Jap Bose instead of 98.6 (because of the 18Mhz shifter) but once they are programed in who cares what the display reads ;)

  12. 1. The Jap radio won't work, you'll need an aftermarket one and that is a good thing. It's not the best. And it does mean you will then be able to get your iPod connected.

    Not strictly true H5, :p it can be made to work easily :teeth:

    you dont have to fork out for a new head unit , new iso block, 1 din enclosure, fitting and new tray to full the gap

    the Jap bose radio operates with a FM frquency of 76–90 MHz unlike the UK one that operates @ 88 - 108 MHz - so you can only pick up radio 2 but you can get a FM freqency shifter of 14 or 18MHz for £5 off ebay, which will give you a bandwidth of 90 - 104 or 94 - 108MHz and you will be able to pick up most if not all radio stations.

    Its a simple job to fit, hardest part is getting the radio out then it just plugs into the arial socket and has 1 wire to attach to any live supply. :thumbs: or get one fitted for about £20 - 30 and save yourself the hassle.

    Then you can get any FM transmitter for your Ipod. but if you not bothered about the radio, I found this one that operates @ 88 - 108MHz so should be ideal and it just plugs into your Ipod, you dont even need a separate power supply as it is powered by your ipod :thumbs:

    comes in black or white and only £6 :yahoo:

    to be honest any FM transmitter that operates between 76 and 90Mhz should work, most Ive seen operate somewhere around 88Mhz

  13. Hi and welcome,

    you cant beat the Zed for putting a smile on your face or getting admiring looks from other drivers, yes the tax is expensive £400 plus (mines a 2005 import and they still did me for top road tax rate based on my emissions even though its registered as a plg DVLA winkers - bit of a sore point)

    if its an english car you should get cheaper road tax as long as its registered before March 2006 - I think

    You'll do about 18-20 mpg about town and about 30mpg on the m/way.

    Insurance varies depending on age but try bell for a quote

    Servicing isnt that expensive considering the car that it - every year or 9K miles

    p1= £200ish

    P2= £250ish

    p3= £300ish

    The paint is waffer thin , the interior is pritty plastic fantastic and it goes through tyres like nobodys business but drive it and you'll forget all about that.

  14. sorry MIKE didnt mean to offend you or amuse countless others :wacko:

    just assumed it based on your reg/club name

    Thanks as always for the help, has anybody tried any other 1 can sprays that come close or even where I may get a translucent silver
