1. Original BOSE AMPLIFIER from 2005 GT4 - works 100% Was removed due to audio upgrade. Excellent condition. This is currently listed on eBay as a "Buy It Now" (£44.99 or best offer) at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120799869821 All the best, Mark (ms8qt)
2. I'm glad you agree Cragus They're simply cluttering up my living room (I have no garage) and driving the misses crazy...and I'm getting nagged to sell 'em!
3. These are still available (due to potential buyer not having enough spare cash for a few weeks). Price drop for a quick sale...£650 including delivery Please private message (PM) me if interested.
4. I think these got lost amongst all the other recent 'for sale' posts...they're still available and I'm after a quick sale. If interested, PM me with an offer ASAP. Any questions, just ask. Thanks, Mark
5. Just got back from Abbey...spoke to a guy called Tony that really seemed to know his stuff As soon as he heard the noise he knew it was down to a couple of worn bits (bearings?) in the crankshaft. He seemed confident he could fix it without buying any expensive replacement parts, however it will take around 40 hours labour at £60+vat an hour...OUCH! It seems it's not easy to access the crankshaft on the 350z, hence why so much labour is needed. I don't appear to have an alternative option so I'll be booking it in with them to get it done ASAP. The only good news was that the rattle noise is quite quiet at the moment and isn't constant...Tony thinks I've caught it early so it'll be ok to drive for the time being, providing I treat it gently and keep it in the lower rev range! Mark
6. Thanks for the quick replies guys! I've just spoken with Abbey (they seemed to know their stuff) and I'm going to go there this afternoon to get their initial thoughts. I only went to KJM in Reading, no other dealers. I'll see what Abbey say this afternoon and go from there. Mark
7. Hi, First of all let me start by saying I no nothing about car mechanics so please reply in plain English or I'll get confused very quickly! I have a GT4 spec 350z (05 plate) and recently noticed a rattle sound coming from the engine (whilst driving). It is more noticeable once the engine is warm and the throttle is feathered slightly in 2nd or 3rd gear, although you can hear it if the car is in neutral and you rev it harder. I took it to Nissan today and within very little time at all they told me I had engine issues and it sounded like the crankshaft. I have booked the car in for 4 hours labour on Tuesday so they can take the crankshaft out and perform a more detailed diagnostic to confirm their initial thoughts. They seem hopeful that regrinding the crankshaft, etc will resolve the problem and the cost of this additional work (inc. parts and labour) is likely to be ~£1200. However, their main techie said that the early 350z didn't allow you to regrind it due to the way it was constructed. They believe that my 05 plate GT4 is on the border and therefore it might be possible to regrind its crankshaft (but they won't know for sure until Tuesday). I was under the impression that the engine from the GT4 became the standard engine in newer cars so I'm really hoping it can be reground. Can anyone shed any light on this? I would like to understand the situation more and know whether or not I'm likely to end up with a £1200 bill or a £3000+ bill for a new crankshaft or, even worse, a new engine! MANY thanks, Mark

10. *** SOLD *** All, For sale are 4 x Limited Edition GT4 wheels fitted with Toyo T1R tyres and 20 nuts (including 4 locking nuts). DETAILS: The tyres are practically new as a result of me buying LMGT4 wheels and tyres off 'zmanalex' a couple of months after replacing them all! The set of tyres cost £600 and there is 7mm of tread on the fronts and 5.5-6mm on the rears As you will see from the photos, after a good clean they still look great. There are some marks on them which the photos clearly show. I've chosen not to get them reconditioned before selling them so that the buyer can choose what they want to do and potentially get them reconditioned in a different colour. PRICE: Make me a realistic offer in the region of £750. DELIVERY: Collection is welcome or alternatively I can courier them to you for £50 (or less if you know of a courier that will do it cheaper...I live in the Reading, Berkshire area) REASON FOR SALE: I have recently sold my 350z (fitted with LMGT4 wheels) following the purchase of a new car. Please send me a private message if you're interested! All the best, Mark Front Tyre #1 Front Tyre #2
11. I've had my GT4 for 4 years and it's been the best (and most fun) car I've owned. However, it's time for a change (probably to a new M3) and a friend of mine wants to buy my GT4. It looks like I'll be selling it with the GT4 (LM1's I believe) wheels although, at present, I have 19" LMGT4 wheels on it and I want to get an idea how much I can expect to get for them on here or eBay with/without tyres (Falken's with a medium amount of tread). BEFORE YOU BOMBARD ME WITH MESSAGES WANTING TO BUY MY LMGT4's...I am not selling them until late April / early May but feel free to contact me if you think you might be interested round about then. The near-side rear wheel would benefit from reconditioning due to a scuff mark (thanks to a stupid old woman driver in Waitrose!) and a couple of the others have a few small marks due to water getting under the lacquer (a common thing to happen with these wheels). I know the answer is partly down to demand but can anyone give me a rough idea what I can realistically expect to get for the set? Pictures of them fitted soon after I got them mid-2009 can be seen at: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=23436 Lastly, does anyone know how much I should be paying (roughly) to recondition each wheel. I believe they're a little more expensive to recondition due to the lacquered finish. Could always get the whole wheel lacquered/coated! Alternatively, could sell them 'as-is' and leave it up to the buyer to decide what to do r.e. any kind of reconditioning Many thanks, Mark
12. Thanks for the reply. I saw those on eBay earlier but they're actual aluminium ones and, based on my experiences so far, I'm sure I'll have the same problem. I either need to find a way to remove the clear glue that has well and truly bonded and solidified where the vent trims fit or I need sticker versions like the ones JDM sold. It's a really irritating thing to have to fix and the unfortunate thing is that I also have a few other annoying things to sort out... - air bag light now flashes all the time...maybe a lose wire? - seat belt pivot at the top squeaks...wd40? open the covering and check for seat belt twists? - passenger door dropped...needs a new hinge! If the car wasn't such a great drive I think I would have sold it by now. Build quality doesn't seem a patch on my previous BMW 330 M-sport coupe Mark.
13. I just noticed that JDM no longer have any silver air vent trim stickers available, only carbon fibre effect Does anyone know why they've stopped making/selling silver ones? More importantly, does anyone know where I might be able to pick up a set somewhere else? I've tried using the official alumiunium trims from Nissan twice in the past (bending them appropriately first) and eventually the passenger side one has always become unstuck, I think because the previous owner had the same issue and had tried to resolve it by using some kind of ultra strong clear glue (which I haven't been able to get off completely and therefore means the surface isn't as flat or clean as it was originally). Any help, ideas, web links, etc would be most welcome! Thanks, Mark.
14. True but they can mark/corrode over time as they are polished (like the edge of the wheels). My LMGT4's I got off 'zmanalex' were in mint condition but the center caps were quite badly tarnished, hence the need for new center caps. You make a fair point though...I guess not many people would need another set. I'll eBay them later tonight and see what happens
15. I'm surprised nobody has replied to this thread expressing interest (or PMed me)...any ideas why?! I'll be putting these on eBay tonight if they're not already sold by then. Mark.
16. The Genesis amp easily fitted into that area...just looks like a tight fit now that the front metal plate has been refitted (this was removed during the install). I reckon you could create a structure/platform so you could have both of your amps in that area behind the driver's seat, one amp above the other (not directly sitting on top of each other though as you should have some space for air circulation). Like most decent speakers, they take a while to break-in/loosen up. I must say that my sub is very punchy and has very good depth for a 10". My last sub (a few years back) was a 15" Rockford Fosgate powered by a high-end mono Phoenix Gold amp...that was something very special but there's no way I was going to be able to fit that in the zed! If things sound even better after a few weeks use then that will be a bonus but, right now, I'm very happy with the way things sound. Oh, and the strut bar enclosure hasn't moved at all...it's a great fit and there's still room for my golf clubs, trolley, etc You'll have to let us know how you get on with your install. Mark.
17. A 10" Genesis or JL Audio sub in a sealed enclosure under the strut brace (available from 'zenclosures', a US eBay seller) is a MUCH better option in my opinion. Only cost me £144 for the enclosure including delivery and customs/import duty. I was steered away from putting a better sub in the stock location by several people, including my ICE installer, and am VERY happy I did! The standard Bose sub was taken out and the amp was installed in its place, thus still leaving the other glovebox (behind passenger seat) free for storage of other things you want/need to keep in the car. More details (and photos) can be seen by clicking the link below http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=23973
18. BRAND NEW These center caps are brand new and unused and will fit your LMGT4 wheels providing that they originally came from Japan (not North America). I believe that most owners of LMGT4 wheels on this forum have the ones that have been sourced from the Japanese market but it's obviously down to you to check/know this in advance of buying them off me So why am I selling them? Well I recently got these center caps imported from an online Japanese retailer thinking they would fit my wheels but I've since found out from Rays that my LMGT4 wheels originally came from North America (not Japan) and therefore use a different type of fixing for the center caps. Doh! I'm just looking to sell these for what I paid but obviously the good news for you is that you'll only have to wait 1-2 days to receive them (as opposed to the 3 weeks I had to wait). £119.95 for all 4 delivered to your door (or a very near offer). Either reply to this thread or alternatively PM (Private Message) me FYI: I will be listing these on eBay in a few days if nobody has snapped them up by then. Mark.
19. Guys, As promised, here are details (and a couple of photos) of my new ICE install First, the photos... The factory Bose system was completed removed (but, if I want, it can be put back in relatively easily when I sell the car). The following was installed in its place: Alpine CDA-105Ri Head-Unit Alpine steering wheel interface Harmon Kardon Drive & Play 2 iPod interface (VERY good...much better than the interface built-to Alpine head units!) Genesis Audiophile 16.03 Components Dynamat Xtreme (lots of this was needed in both door panels) PLUS facia adapter and an input cable (to connect the Harmon Kardon iPod interface to the Alpine Ai-Net socket). Stage 1 was a massive improvement and the sound that came from the new component fronts (powered just by the head unit) was impressive. Stage 2: This stage was all about adding some depth and power, for clarity of sound as well as more volume. I managed to buy the high-end Genesis amplifier (used) for £300 delivered from an eBay seller (they cost £650 new!). I bought a sealed sub enclosure from 'zenclosures', an eBay seller, that fits under the strut bar and therefore takes up very little space. Managed to negotiate a slightly lower price on it and the total cost including delivery and import duty/tax was dead on £144 Very few subwoofers are designed to work in such a small enclosure (around 0.7 cu. ft.) but the Genesis 25.01 does. Bought that from The Sound Gallery for £200. The following was installed: Alpine PXA-H100 Audyssey Processor Genesis Audiophile 25.01 10" Subwoofer Genesis Series 3 Four Channel Amplifer PLUS decent power/speaker cabling, female/male cable adapters, and signal cables (for front and subwoofer channels). Everything works and sounds great. The only thing left to do is for The Sound Gallery to calibrate the PXA-H100 Audyssey processor (they couldn't do that today because their laptop had broken). That's about it...I hope this info helps a few people out Mark.
20. I've had my first stab at creating a custom mount and it's gone pretty damn well. The only thing I may consider doing is filing the depth of the mount down a bit so it's more flush with the interior. Stage one was to put some clingfilm on the center console (under climate control dials) to protect it (just in case Milliput left marks) and then press a small round ball of Milliput down where i wanted to fit the Harmon Kardon control dial (using something flat and strong so that one side would also be flat). I left the mould overnight to set and the next morning it was solid and ready for shaping using a metal file. 3.jpg Once the control dial is put on it works nicely and is very stable. As said at the top of this post, the only thing I might do is file the depth of the mount down a bit so it's more flush with the interior. Best of all, no drilling and I have it fitted exactly where I want it Mark.
21. Well I thought 2 weeks for it to arrive was average but I've not had much experience waiting for things to be shipped from the US. In terms of fitment, it couldn't be better. You have to slot it in at a slight angle and it needs a bit of a push (not too hard though) to put it firmly in place. Once fitted it looks great and I can't wait to get the amp/sub installed on Monday. I would STRONGLY recommend the seller as the communication was great and, as you'll read above, if you ask you can also get a slight discount on the marked price Exchange rate will obviously affect the overall cost but I thought £144 all-in was fantastic for such a great product...and it means I have just as much space left for my golf clubs!!! The only small issue is that very few 10" subs are designed to work in this small volume enclosure. I'm going for the Genesis Audiophile 25.01 (£200) as it is designed for this size enclosure and will also match my front components. An engineer at JL Audio e-mailed me to say that the 10W3v3 is the only sub that would work in that box. Mark.
22. Update! Receive the enclosure today from 'zenclosures' on eBay US and after a £25.20 customs charge the total cost (delivered) was £144...a bargain for such a great custom fitment. Will be getting the rest of the install done in a week so will post photos after Mark.

24. So why have you got one?...trimming it to fit what? (or have I misunderstood you?) I've just looked on eBay but can't find anything. Can you let me know the eBay listing/item number? Lastly, any idea what's involved in fitting a new one? (easy/complex? time consuming?) Cheers, Mark.
25. Thanks for all the replys/ideas guys...here are my responses 1) The suggestion to get a spare gear surround off 'zmanalex' sounds great but obviously depends on price as well as how easy (or not) it is to replace. I'll PM him for the price but does anyone know what is involved to replace this part (or can point me to a thread that shows this)?> 2) In terms of other suggested mounting locations... It can't be mounted on the armrest of the driver's door because it wouldn't be easy to access due to the existing electric window controls. It can't be mounted on the center armrest because that damn ashtray is there (which I use for coins) and I can't fit it further back because then it's difficult to access and use. Left/right of the speedo is a bit too far away and high up for ease of use. Not only that, it's easy for would-be theives to see something unusual (and nice) that indicates a decent ICE install! left/right of speedo The sunglass holder is a nice idea but that's just too high up...not convenient and my arm would ache a bit using it a lot whilst driving. 3) The Milliput putty can be shaped/sanded after it's got hard and can also be painted (although one is available that is black which I think would work well). 4) There are no wires as it's the wireless (version 2) one It came with a round double-sided sticky pad to for fixing so I'll use that or some sticky velcro pad (cut to size) so that I could always remove it if I ever had to park in a slightly dodgy area and wanted to hide it. CONCLUSION I'll either create and shape a small custom moulding as I already planned OR I'll drill it in place (if a spare gear surround isn't too expensive and can be fitted easily). I really your comments...thanks. Mark.
