  1. I will be doing Spa on the 31st and then the Nurburgring on the 1st & 2nd April at DN11, just wondered if anyone else might be going?
  2. I bought mine from Platinum Nissan in Bath, they were very helpful and friendly, car was fully serviced when I bought it, so I have not had to use any dealerships to get any work doen yet.
  3. Wait, what, you had a brand new 350z as your first car? How old are you? Were you just slow getting into this driving lark or did your father buy your car for you or soemthing? No disrespect but I do wonder, anyone who works hard and pays that kind of money for a car really wouldn't be bored after just 6 months. yes was my first car , im 25 now though and have spent the last 7 years busting my ass at uni- and my job now pays alooooooooooooooot Then how can you be bored? Most peoples first car is a piece of crap; a 1.1corsa or fiesta or the like. You went straight into a 300bhp, RWD sports car, most people would give their right arm to be as lucky as you. Surely as your first car which you've worked hard to pay for you should be a lot more appreciative? Or is that just me? I really echo these thoughts, my first car was my dead grandmothers Hillman Avenger 1300 and I have steadily worked up my cars. It happens to everyone in any car that over time you get used to the power, my old boss had an RS4 (the TT version not the new V8) tuned to 550bhp after 6 months he said it was not as exciting anymore and that is with 550bhp. Also, power is not everything, the Z has a sweet chassis and balance, in my opinion it would be very easy to move to another car and then really miss the Z. So, so don't rush into anything.
  4. As a rough guide I was told you increase by 2 psi for each inch you increase above shandard rim size.
  5. Great, this was what I was hoping, thanks for the quick reply
  6. Morning, I have been searching through the threads about brakes but I was wondering if there was any definative advice. I do two or three trackdays a year and since going to the 'Ring last year fully intend on going again this year. However, my steed has changed and I now own a shiny Zed. Can I just upgrade pads and fluid to cope with the Zed's weight or do they need a full big brake upgrade. I am hoping that I can be pointed toward some decent pads as I don't think I do enough trackdays to warrant the expense of a big brake conversion but I would welcome thoughts from any who have tracked their Zed's. My main concern is being half way round the ring and running out of brakes as its a long way to nurse a car round.
  7. I have been to the ring once last year in a VX220 Turbo and did 20 laps over the weekend, what I don't want is to run out of brakes half way round, on the other hand I don't track my cars very often 2-3 times a year so I don't want to be spending loads of cash on a massive brake upgrade if its not really needed.
  8. have set mine for 6000 as I have only had the car a month and wanted to take things easy
  9. Have you done anything to your brakes to cope with trackdays?
  10. Would it not be cheaper to just book a ferry and B&B and go drive it yourself?
  11. If you want to get a taxi ride you need to book well in advance as it is in great demand. Your other option is to turn up on the day and hope someone drops out and you can get their place. It is a great thing to do, I have not done it myself but have been behind a taxi as first it came powering past and then started drifting round the corners, then it powered off into the distance.
  12. Just to put things in perspective I reckon I had a fair idea of the track after 20 laps over a weekend and thousands of laps on a PS2 beforehand, it really is place that needs to be treated with a lot of respect.
  13. I went there last October when I had my VX220 turbo, as others have already mentioned it is an amazing place and unlike any other race track anywhere in the world. The thing that always makes me smile is that any track day in the UK you will have a 30 min safety briefing etc etc, at the ring you turn up, pay for a lap and go, no one will talk to you at all and all the marshals are looking for is that you car is road worthy. We stayed at www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de Really nice clean place good showers, right by a good watching corner and a 10 min walk from the town. If its your first time, just take it easy, personally I treated it like trackdays in the UK, if there is a bugger on your bumper just let him past, don't go racing anyone and just keep a clear space around you and you should be fine. I only had one 'moment' second lap and it started pouring with rain and in the section of left right curves just after the main straight the offside rear wheel touched the curb, the back of the car swung round really quick and I almost binned it, luckily I caught it, things settled down and I did the rest of the lap with my heart pounding in my chest and I really was not going that quick. Have plans to go again this year and I have been wondering how the Z will cope in regards of brakes and what sort of upgrades might be needed, the VX being so light was completely fine as standard. I would say definately go and just be careful, take it at your own pace. Also, for those who love GT4 and the like, apart from giving you an idea of which way the corner goes next it is nothing like the real thing and the way the track goes up and down. You also need to be prepared to get totally wasted by local Germans in rust heaps who will pass you like your standing still.
