  1. when they put it in, they scratched all of the sill, ahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i am going to be without the car yet again whilst they take it to the bodyshop for a repair, not happy!! Whats the general compensation people have had for having there pride and joy scratched up by some monkey at the dealers? Regards Rob
  2. mine is in today for a new seat base for the passenger side as it only worked on the low setting. All switches and fuses are fine. Nissan told me that there are 2 circuits within the seat and it looks like one is broken. I get the Z back later today so i'll ask them what it was. They should hopefully be giving me a new Bose aswell as mine still jumps!! Then i'm gonna try for a new clutch and flywheel, ha ha!! Might aswell make the most of the warranty! Regards Rob

    Sat Nav

I have been looking at this myself but i am not sure whether it's the same one. anyone know? Regards Rob
  4. clicking rear axle - done pushed the traction control button into the dash (oops) -done rattle behind the 3 pods in the dash - done Jumping Bose stereo - said they couldn't find a fault, aaahhh!! passenger side heated seat only works on the low setting (bizarre) - new seat base on order. Replace both the front and the rear badges. -done squeak from the rear right -done re-torque front suspension (tsb for slight knock) - done so basically, all of it, woohoo!! only problem now is, driving it home from the garage i pulled into Shell, pressed the fuel cap release buttion and that too went straight through the dash! They aren't built too well are they? regards Rob
  5. hahah, it's funny that because the exact car is currently being pampered by Nissan having all of it's warranty issues sorted. Cheaky fraudsters!! thanks for the input guys, sounds like ebay are onto them. I have to saym she looks good in the photos though!! Regards Rob
  6. having a quick browse on ebay and discovered a very good looking 350z. Much to my horror, it's mine!!! looks like a scam and someone has got hold of the pictures from wen i bought it. How do you report stuff like that to ebay? heres the scam. Aparently you can have MY car for £6700, yeah right!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-NISSAN-350Z_ ... dZViewItem
  7. I thought my Bose sounded a bit cack (when it wasn't jumping!) so fiddled around with it. I thought it sounded quite dull in the front so all i did was adjusted the balance to the right by 1 click. It's bloomin miles better!! The quality has improved and if you stick your head in the centre of the car it still sound in the middle!! Hope this helps on yours. I like my Bose now

    SAT NAV

I see quite a few people have upgraded their sat nav. i have seen one on ebay but it's from a different nissan so don't know whether it would fit. Has anyone got one they would sell. I'm not bothered about how fancy it is, as long as it works. Basically, it's the only optional extra my car hasn't got so i might aswell put that in aswell! Regards Rob
  9. yep, same as mine, 13k from new, nasty rattle. Apprently thats a "feature" of the 350z. I used to work for Lotus/IBM in Staines and drink in the Swan, happy days! Regards Rob
  10. has anyone fitted the rear park sensors on a 350 though? the instructions are a bit vague ad it doesn't indicate whether you need to take the bumper off or not, but i pressume you do? Regards Rob
  11. don't worry, i am proceeding with caution, hence why i am getting all my other stuff done first before i really start trying to get clutch parts done. The clutch plate itself is not covered under waranty, but the bearing, cover (failure in the springs) and flywheel are. the guy even let it slip that they have had a few warped flywheels and a few twisted splines? and also said if they can sense a judder then it's likely to be a fault. I'm just going to wait until i have some cash incase they try and bill me when the gearbox is out. However, i took it into ATS yesterday to have my tracking done (steering wheel slightly out to the right, anyone else got this? turns out the tracking is spot on, eh, how does that work then?) and the first thing he said to me was "the springs in your clutch cover are shot and it judders, take it back". i hadn't even mentioned it. I will get a new part eventually. Just thought i'd ask on here so i could be armed with previous stories/backup etc Regards Rob
  12. p.s, if you know the girls who are washing your car in your pictures then yes, i will definately meet up!! my motor could do with a wash Rob
  13. think i might take a trip up there then if they are more helpful. Basically i am having all my Warranty niggles sorted out (clicking diffs, bose, noisy dash rattle etc etc), then as soon as they hand the keys back i'm going to ask to listen to the clutch on their demonstrator as he said ALL 350zs do it. Although i pointed out, if they made that noise from new, nobody would buy them as it sounds rough. He also said it's nothing to do with the release bearing until a gear is selected and the clutch is released. A 'thump' would be an indication of a faulty wheel bearing. I'll speak to my mechanic frind and see what he says. thanks for the input. I'll keep you posted about meeting up Rob
  14. hmmm, they told me it was the shaft in the gearbox spinning and they have had gearboxes sent back to Japan. Nissan in Japan sent a communication out to them to stop them taking gearboxes out as there was no damage, it was simply a 'feature of the gearbox', hmmm Thanks for the input though, i'll keep digging around! Regards Rob
  15. I have a noisy (what i suspect to be...) clutch cover or plate. On previous cars that have had this problem it has been due to faulty springs in the cover. Basically, if you are sat in neutral with your foot not touching the clutch it sounds like a boiling kettle, put your foot on the clutch and it dissapears. You can also hear it a bit when driving which is why i think it might be the cover. Anyway, the stealers are apparently not replacing any clutch/gearbox parts under warranty and the noise has been signed off as "normal" although when i asked him to start up the demonstrator outside to prove that one did it aswell, he wouldn't!! Basically, what he's saying is he doesn't want to do the work, i'm not happy. Right...he then went on to say that if i authorise to take the gearbox out and back in (i.e pay for it), they'll check the clutch, if they find a fault they'll replace it and pay for the labour. Has anyone else had probs with the clutch? what was the outcome? any tips for getting them off their lazy behinds and fixing the annoying issue? Regards Rob
  16. "Nissan have worked a clever trick by ensuring that a good deal of the coupe chassis could be modified to accept roadster reinforcements with no great increase in weight. So it is that the 350Z Roadsters 296bhp 3.5-litre V6 will get it to 62mph in 6.3 seconds, just half a second slower than its tintop sibling and handling doesnt suffer unduly either. Compare the two cars and youll realise that the 3,450lbs at which the Roadster tips the scales is a mere 46lbs on top of the Coupe." so, an extra 461bs, slows the 350z by half a second. Add the same again and it'll take the time down even further. The difference between 5.9 and 6.8ish is noticeable regards Rob
  17. Went to the stealers yesterday armed with a list of jobs to do on my Z. They have agreed to do the following free.... clicking rear axle noisy clutch release bearing/cover springs pushed the traction control button into the dash (oops) rattle behind the 3 pods in the dash Jumping Bose stereo passenger side heated seat only works on the low setting (bizarre) Replace both the front and the rear badges. Only thing they won't do is replace the clutch coer, flywheel or release bearing due to the rattle and very slight judder. They said they would if they could find a fault with it but i would have to pay for the gearbox removal and refit if they don't find a fault (which they'll makee sure they don't!) So, car should be good as knew by the 4th October! Regards Rob

  19. it's not b***ox at all. common logic dictates it's not. You put £5 of fuel in a can, times that by 8 for your £40, stack them up and pick them all up at once and it's the same as carrying a fat heffer round with you for no other reason than you can't be bothered to fill up again. I am not a big chap and am fit and healthy so don't mind stepping out of my car and squeezing a nossle for 2mins. I have had a number of different sports cars and can feel a fdifference straight away when a passenger gets in or the boot is loaded, even with the torque of a big engine like the V6 Alfa or the 350Z Weight equals loss of bhp (clrkson never shuts up about it). If it made no difference, why would they bother selling lightweight Rays wheels and making body panels out of aluminium to save grams and improve performance? Anyway, my petrol station is on the way to work, i don't have to drive out of my way to it so i see your point if you had to go out of your way, defeats the purpose of saving cash. As for people wanting a rundown of the costs of running our cars...My car costs me about £20-£30 a week. I paid cash for it and it has depreciated most of it's chunk already, it's already been serviced and had new tyres and has 2 yrs warranty left and when i sell it i'll sell privately to minimise loss, so it's just fuel really. Regards Rob
  20. also, for the guy who had the tyres that have turned into 50 pnece pieces... If your car is still under warranty there is a technical service bullien for this very issue and once they have seen the damage to your tyres they have to pay for the new set. The bulliten is reference NTB04-043 and can be found on WWW.350Z-TECH.COM hopefully i've just saved you 600 squid. Mines a pint Regards Rob
  21. If you are frightened by putting £60 petrol in your car...don't! I only put £20 at a time in for 2 reasons.... 1) I don't cringe everytime i hand over my card to pay having only paid for £20 fuel instead of £60 and.. 2) There's no point lugging an extra £40 worth of fuel about for nothing! It effects your fuel ecomony due to extra weight, the weight distribution of the car is effected and the extra weight alightly effects performance. The only downside is more stops to fill up fuel. Plus if any little scally steals your car, they'll run out of juice in 50 miles of spirited driving, rather than 300, haha But then i only do 8 miles a day so fuel stops are not frequent anyway. Any car is expensive to run these days, just pay it and save money elswehere, thats what i do. My car is my only hobby/toy so i'll have it no matter what it costs. Rob
  22. thanks for that. Does halfrauds in altrincham have a paint mixing service or is it 'buy a can and hope for the best' time? Regards Rob
  23. Drivers and passengers airbagsgone off £1k Passenger side seat airbag gone so new seat £500 minimum Once airbags gone off it needs a new ECU (can't reset) £650 1 x Rays alloy £500 ish from nissan 1 x NISMO spolier £300 ish 1 x side sill £200 paint + blend £700 thats £3850 ontop of the damage listed above. It would only be listed as a CAT D though, not a CAT C. Mine is a CAT D because when it had 2000 miles on the clock, some chump sideswiped it. It only needed a drivers side wing, door skin, mirror and Rear quarter (wing mirror put a dent line in it). Because the car was less than 6 months old, the insurance decided not to repair it and replaced it with a brand new one for the first owner! Lucky for them i suppse, but even luckier for me as i got a bargain 350z on an 05 reg with only 13k on the clock with paint that doesn't fall off Regards Rob
