Had an interesting chat with the guys at Wessex:
They felt the extra oomph at the top end was nice but it did not sound as good...

All
For those looking for a roadster:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/223582.htm
No - it is not mine but a respected member of the PH community!
Thanks
Glen

Ahh - that explains why the stealer couldn't find anything when I asked them to find the cause. I had run over a rock on an alpine pass when on holiday and was concerned I had dislodged something....

Wessex Nissan in Bristol have a new black roadster in stock.... Where in the country are you?

maybe so but posts like this have backfired on other people on other forums, as it provides evidence of a general attitude of "dangerous" driving to a court should you be up for something serious (ie say you hit and kill someone god forbid - these things do happen and posts like these HAVE been used in court in such cases).. still its up to you what you put in the public domain..
I am sorry but I have to support Pingu with this exact point. There is someone on PH where the CPS turned up in court with the print out of his posts! It was all about trying to undermine your credibility as a witness.
Be very careful about what gets out in to the public domain!

Good idea! I am pleased that someone has managed to go for 2 weeks and been roof down for the majority of the time - it proves it is do-able!
I think we are going to have to get used to travelling light and creatively packing all the cubby holes! Good job the tent, thermarests and sleeping bags are all tiny to start with....
-
Thats got to work.. Only thing is, would you want it to! Looks all a bit odd to me. Still, style isnt everythign I guess?
I agree - I won't be looking at it much!!
The one concern I have about it is the webbing will pass round the edges of the boot. This could mean the webbing rubbing the paint off the edge as it vibrates. I have seen alloy wheels that have been burned by a similar process....
I am sure I could come up with a way of preventing it happening... hmmm.

this http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=400474 gets a bit of a mixed review on pistonheads, know nothing about it but it might help you.
Dont fancy it myself......
Hi Mugwump!
Having spent a few years at sea, I can certainly vouch for the "stickyness" of the plastic film. The points being raised about lepton plus cruising in France is a good one as I am planning to do an overnighter down the country next month
Mind you, it is almost worth 60 quid, fill it up with rags and take it for a hoon to find out!! Only a third of the cost of a boot rack and should have fewer interference problems with the tonneau cover over the hood....
Glen
-
Hmm -roofrack shop don't have a solution for the 350... Anyone else?
Glen
-
Yup! We have already proved that we can get 3 boxes of wine in the glove compartment behind the passenger seat and about 30 stubbies in the spare wheel when we have been away for a long weekend... However enough undercrackers/other stuff for 2 weeks away along with a tent etc means that shopping space is limited!
Hence the idea of a boot rack - ONLY for going on holiday with Bit too flat cap & string backed driving gloves for regular use!!
Glen

We are planning to take our roadster to France for a couple of weeks in July and don't want to use the "Tardis" feature for packing clothes etc. We want the roof down as much as possible!
Has anyone used a boot rack like one of these: http://www.roofrackshop.co.uk/boot/boot.htm ?
It looks like a great idea to the "want some space to bring booze home" question
Has anyone got any experience of these from here or other suppliers?
Glen
-
I will certainly be along to one of these - but looking at the calendar, it might not be until September....

Great day out - good to meet everyone.
Choptop and I got back to Bristol just after 8 this evening after nearly 11 hours out and about and nearly 350 miles driven!
The trip down through Wales was excellent with some fabulous roads and the final B road blast from Abergavenny to Chepstow finished off a great day.
Eyes are out on stalks now though!!
See you all soon,

So what are we doing on Saturday night then? I gather from speaking to a local that there are a load of curry houses on Brook Street or his other recommendation was Brasserie 1016.
What do the locals on here think and where is a suitable place to meet up?
Glen
-
Not bad, but not many Shell garages around here, there is one a few miles away so will have to fill up there.
Take a quick look here http://www.viamichelin.com/b2b2c/gbr/dy ... iteId=home for all your V-Power needs!

Me and my other half would be up for meeting up for a few beers and a curry.
At least with the top down we won't need a the following day!
Will need somewhere with easy parking etc
Glen

Sounds like a good idea. Date will be the key thing for me: can't be the weekend of the Big Chill
Glen

Choptop should be in bold too...
Got our room from here:
http://www.laterooms.com/en/Hotels.aspx ... rt=2,0&c=1 and I see the DeVere that we are in has not got any doubles left but still twins available - although a phone call to the hotel direct may have a better result.
Hotel details are here:
http://www.devere.co.uk/venues/daresbury%2Dpark/

Oh, and another thing. B&Bs are running out of rooms.
This place had one left yesterday though, for £60 http://www.accommodation.uk.net/victorialodge.htm
We're staying at Craigleith on Hoole Rd.
Surely there are plenty of Travel Inns, Travel Lodges, Premier Lodges as well? In fact that deal at the De Vere was just as cheap?.....
That's why I chose it. We are due to drive up slowly (yeah, right!!) on the Saturday and use the pool/health club. Beer and curry in Chester sounds good in the evening...
Any safe parking in the middle of town? I don't want my roadster getting molested!!
Glen
-
Hotel is booked - DeVere @ Daresbury Park and we will be going in to Chester in the evening. A bit cheaper than some of the Chester hotels
Also only one Junction along the motorway to the meet too!
Anyone up for a beer?

Slightly (!) better interior build quality. Dealer has just had the dashboard out to put the fuel filler flap release back in. I pushed it through the dashboard
Did this the day I picked her up. Fixed it myself though.
I hate the inaccurate fuel gauge. Seems to go forever on ¼ tank but anything above it just pisses away.
Guy
I tried but I couldn't get the knack with my fat fingers to get sorted

Anyone local know a good B+B or hotel around Chester - with secure parking? for the Saturday night?
A 10am meet is a very very early start on a Sunday from Bristol
If we can find somewhere good then I (+1) will be up for this!

I did point that out to her at the time!
Now dropped to £22.5k which is a bit more realistic....
