  1. Stunning! Liking the pics of this TT.

I dropped the GF at Audi Leeds to collect her A3 the other day and spotted an R8: is was something else! Looks absolutley amazing and was more compact than I had imagined it. A refined and beautiful machine!

Audi do make a good car, no doubt about that.

  2. Fifth Gear is just bilge! I actually missed the Zed bit but caught the rest of the show and there really wasn't anything of interest there. Mrs Digsy will happily watch Top Gear with me but just looked bemused throughout, trying to work out who might find it interesting. Sh1te!:yawn:

Totally agree, Fifth Gear is utter crap. Even to a non-Z fan, there was only like 5 minutes in the whole 1 hour show worth watching. Bring back Top Gear!

I'm not sure VBH was being honest with her review though. Does she *really* like it, or was it an attempt to get more people entering their text/phone competition?

The Z looked awesome though, as ever :teeth:

  3. :yahoo: Order status says packing :yahoo:

    Ditto, from Game B)

Anyone taken note of their times in the 350Z at Mugello demo track? I'm having trouble beating 1:05's without aids, though I'm sure it can be done under 1 minute.

I've not had the XBOX long and it feels kinda weird driving again without a wheel (I use the Logitech G25 for PC racing).

  4. you go to squires do you?

I've been a few times, yes. As I live closer now, I'll probably be going more often, depends on if my mates are there also.

I started going a while ago in my then G7 Celica, as I know a couple of guys from MKIV Supra club.

Do you go? Don't remember seeing many CTR's, though I do rememer some very nice Integra R's

  5. :bye:

I'm in Yorkshire and visit this meet when I can:

    http://www.squires-cafe.co.uk/

It's not a Z meet and there is rarely another 350Z there, although there are a couple of 300ZX regulars.

Mostly Supra, MR2, Evo & Impreza, although I've seen a nice RX8, Celica and once even an NSX B)

Meet is first first Tuesday of each month during the evening, so next one is only a couple of days away! Think I'm going this time too; look out for a UY GT4.

Although it's a modified car meet I've never seen any mis-behaving. Just have a wander round the car park, admire the motors then inside for a swift pint.

    Maybe see you there

  6. I also kept too much lock on in corners getting the back end out too much and hence losing time

So you didn't listen to the man either?

The sequence is a key part which I only just started to get better at as my hot laps were running out.

I've been reading a book by Skip Barber for a while, and it mentions there are times, when driving on the limit, that the correct action (for speed) is counter intuitive to your natural reaction. I now understand what that *really* means. Too high an entry speed hurts your exit speed for one, and again to use the Follow Through as an example, it's not always best to brake if you *think* the very limit of grip is fast approaching.

All the total basics of performance driving really :D I'm pleased I opted for the DVD as there are many points which I can review again, although not all the tuition was filmed.

  7. My main problem was sequence and corner entry speed (i.e. too quick).

Too often I did not get the gear change done in time, as my entry was too fast, which ultimatley cost me on the exit, where speed is cruitial.

I did on occasion feel like my life was soon to end on approach to the Follow Through :scare:

Sarnie: Is your aero kit *really* worth 3 seconds or was that a p1ss take?

  8. Had my run out on Tuesday this week B)

Ended up with a 1:39.6

Got to say it was an excellent experience. Graham at Plans is a true motor racing guru; full respect

As much as I throughly enjoyed the day and learnt an awful lot about my driving habits, I did leave feeling a little disappointed with myself. Having watched the DVD again, I did not heed Graham's advice fully. The car has so much more to give than I was able to deliver: another disappointing angle for me.

With respect, 1:39 is a sh1te lap (no offence meant to others with similar times!). Three things could have got this to a 1:36 or below:

    1. Practice what the man preaches!

    2. Graham told me having another body in the car adds almost 2 seconds a lap.........

    3. When I arrived I had <2mm tread on the rear rubber. I had the tyres changed after the track session and noticed a significant improvement in grip.

The Stig did 1:31.* with a 350z. Professional racing driver though he may be, 5 seconds off this time on a 90-95 second lap should be achieveable.

I want to study the DVD again, pratice with a sim some more, then go back and *hammer* 1:39 :teeth:

Anyway, if anyone is considering this session for themselves, definately take the plunge. No way you will regret it!

  9. Looks good that Wes, you getting it???

    Nope ;)

I have one of the circular ones myself, dropped a bollark when putting it on though, put it right in the corner. Now every time my tax is due it takes me 2 hours to get it out with the fiddly little screws....

Yeah, I learnt that lesson the hard way too! Just don't drop the screws down the air vents..........

  10. Would it not be cheaper to just book a ferry and B&B and go drive it yourself?;)

One off, maybe. I can drive it when I want, as many times as I want, with zero risk, in a sim :D

Don't get me wrong, sim racing is no subsitute for the real thing! I sure enjoy it as a pass-time though, that's all I was getting at B)

  11. Thanks for the tips fellas

Took her back to the body-shop today. Dude says the green is something to do with the primer and will be re-spraying both bumpers and skirts. Cannot say fairer than that.

Another few days in the Stoneacre Super Punto to look forward to then

  12. Just been cleaning the Z and noticed something rather concerning :(

First I noticed the rear bumber was not cleaning, at all, above the exhaust pipes. Looked grubby and could not remove the grime.

Looking closer to the other parts replaced following my recent NDE, and I've noticed the sills and front bumper are starting to develop a greeny tint. It's worse on the sills

Anyone know what this might be before I ring the bodyshop Monday and raise hell?
