  1. if you could get a new 313, definately.

for me newer is always nicer and better ;-)

i'm on a tight budget and can't put much towards a change (as just got married and still paying bills for that), so for me it will be an early version. although in a similar dilemma, and have seen some 297 versions for a little more and is tempting (but probably have to do the right thing and hang fire for a bit). even between the 278 and 296, i know many say the performance isn't really noticeable, but it's the thought of higher bhp, nice switch gears etc.

but the 313 would be ace as it's revised some what from what i have heard

  2. i had my wheels refurbed recently and the guy uses a mobile tyre fitter.

    think he may charge £15-20/wheel

but that takes into account of travel and diesel etc. so if all 4 done at the same time, i guess cheaper and closer to the £12.50/corner you expect.

but got to remember that inflation does happen in all trade, and hence all things cost more.

might be worth ringing a few mobile fitters. otherwise how do you take 4 tyres down to a fitter in a zed?

  3. Thanks for the response. I've been in touch with the guy and he tells me it was a cat D insurance job, only required a wing and headlamp. ?. Yes, I'm afraid I do like the colour! There seems to be lots available but it really is proving hard to narrow my choice.

how can a new wing and headlamp, make it a CAT D. as this is marked as a write off, where insurance companies decide not to repair as would be cheaper to pay out than fix, but can be repaired and put back on the road?

buying insurance is different for a CAT D too.

good luck in the hunt. as i'm happy with my current car, i might just hang on until next year now, and see if the facelifts prices come in reach more.

  4. my last car i brought privately had outstanding finance.

the guy told me, but as i was buying, he paid it off and showed me the paper work etc.

i personally wouldn't pass the full lump sum over and then waiting the seller to pay it off.

as above, pay directly to the finance company, or make sure he pays it on the day and it clears or get him to pay for it first and then you pay him.

i've seen quite a few without rays, but with GT pack.

for the sake of £5-20, i would get a HPI.

i can higly recommend experian autocheck £20, but i'll dig up a discount code for £10 off. it's just saved my back side, as the car i was looking at was CAT D, but looked fine.

i'm assuming you can haggle on sticker price too.

on the money saved, get some wide split rims ;-)

  5. which brands did you go for?

bristol pro tyre would be cheaper i think.

when you mean local tyre fitter, is that a uk wide branch or an independent?

i found when i wanted tyres fitted, own supplied, some uk wide branch ones, said no. will you be disposing the old ones yourself?

i was reading Evo past articles, and it said they manage to fit a set of tyres in the car, i can't see it possible
