  1. just popping in to have a browse of the forum

was really close to being an owner

almost swapped my old car with a forum member back then (2008)

met up for a second time, shook hands to agree a swap

i asked if it was in accident, repair works and answer was NO.

went home and did a hpi check, couldn't believe it came up as CAT D.

owner denied all knowledge. shame as was a nice car, but couldn't risk getting a CAT D and swapping my then mint car

anyway, anyone thinking of buying, make sure to do a check.

  2. zedrush, i'm just going to copy this link to someone on ttforum, as they are ready to pick it up and thought i would share any info which might be useful to the other guy. you might get a PM from a random, if that's ok.

    rgds

  3. zedrush, awesome car. 280bhp from a remap is pushing the boundaries. which remap was it, skn? heard mix reviews about ttshop. you should have gone to vagcheck ;-)

BTW, what reg was that one, as i've seen someone on the tt forum looking at black QS with baseball leather, and that's rare, so could be your old motor.

  4. hi to a familiar face.

    celica rocks ;-)

i was very close to securing a deal on a 350z, but as it fell through, i've not really looked again. the car i have does exactly what i want circular of 270bhp with more torque than a celica 190 by far, and have decided against a zed for several reasons (but still great cars from out from the box).

for your interest my TT to insure when i was 24 was about a third of your 350z quote ;-)

  5. thanks

due to circumstances, i'm in no rush to sell. actually really enjoy the car.

been doing some longer distance, like to birmingham and somerset, and the quattro and remap it's a great relaxing drive on the motorway, but can still boot it easily when needed, while at speed limit it returns 35-40mpg.

having a big think, if it sales, it sales, but if it doesn't no loss and will keep longer.

going off the idea of the z4, but still like the zed and if i do probably spend less and save the money.

but the e46 m3 is catching my eye, and think a better alround, due to extra space, so would be a car i would keep longer

    who knows

  6. selling my Nikon kit and perfect kit for a beginner or newbie to DSLR on a budget:

    - Nikon D40 (note: flash not working, please read below)

    - Nikon AF-S 18-55mm DX F3.5-5.6G IF-ED Zoom Lens

    - Nikon AF-S 55-200mm F4-5.6 G ED Lens – with pouch and lens hood

    - Nikon SB-400 Flash-gun – with pouch

    - Hoya Super HMC Pro 1 UV Filter 52mm

    - Camera bag (can fit all the above)

All items are in very good condition with little use, body and lens are silver colour edition.

All items above, comes with original packaging, box, manual, leads, etc.

Note: The Inbuilt Flash Does not flash/ light. The hood still pops open fine as per normal operation; it has had no knocks, drops etc. As still in very good condition, and takes perfect pictures.

    Fixation: quoted the following:

"We could repair the camera here for you for a cost of:

    £65.00 labour plus VAT

I have seen the problem before, there is a switch in the top cover that gets broken, just through use; there is nothing you could have done to stop it from happening, it is electronic component failure and just bad luck I guess. It doesn't just happen on the D40 but other Nikon camera too"

However, instead of getting it fixed, I decided to go for a Nikon Flashgun sb-400, which was advised by many members, as gives better flash and options of light tilting etc.

*rrp of the above (quotes from Jessops online)

    D40 and18-55 lens = £270

    55-200 lens = £150

    SB400 Flashgun = £150

    Hoya Filter = £15

    Camera Bag = £30 (estimate)

    Total = £615

The total new is over £600, and I’m looking at offers around the half the price mark plus postage (before it goes on ebay such like)

    £300 collected from Bristol

+ pics to follow (when I can)

+ only selling to free up some cash

  7. near £800 for a service on a 2 yr old car.

i know the M is technical, but it's like the word wedding (having got married not long ago), mention the word on that for a service, car, flowers etc, prices just double, it's like that of the M

don't get me wrong, i'm sure the M is very special, but in some cases it's not the highest bhp, torque, 0-60 car out there (i know it's not all that, it's the whole drive), but it seems alot of expense to maintain

  8. nice write up manc350z, thanks

i don't go with stereotype either.

last car was a celica with bodykit - screaming boy racer or something probably

current car audi tt - hair dressers or for girls ;-)

some well spec'd examples going for similar value to 350z's, although maybe more mileage, but then it was a car of £40-50k.

i thought and still do think, they are getting dated in looks. but a good thing is it's not like an evo or subaru which shouts i'm here and blends in well, without attracting the wrong attention.

but yes your last paragraph, cost is the main issue.

it seems there isn't value for money garages out there, not even independants and service labour time is long and parts expensive.

my current TT, forexample, i've heard people pay like £500-800 for a service from a dealer. i used a specialist VAG £28/hr+vat and charges something like £150/service. i don't read many of these for BMW especially for M3 attention.

  9. yeah it's nice to have a unique car, but the e46 m3 isn't going to get a second glance now really is it?

to be fair, the exterior is getting a little dated, but still stands it ground, but it's about the drive ultimately.

there are cheaper cars for the bhp and torque, but i assume doesn;t offer the same reward of the drive.

  10. prices have come down alot.

even spec'd sat nav, smg, 19's etc. can be had for like £11k (but with 80k on the clock)

any opinions on these, drive, ownership, costs, high mileage ones etc.

obviously costs on 350z is a lot cheaper, insurance and service costs probably on average half.

it's not a debate over manual vs smg, but if you have experience with it would like to hear it.

  11. how can someone go along and so such a thing to the car.

i'm crap at DIY etc. but if say it was like a Top Gear competition with Clarkson, May, Hamond etc. that would be my attempt!!!

but give myself credit where it's due, with so many bodge fittings, surely the kit was rubbish fit too.
