  1. The whole greenhouse thing is a big con anyway, as anyone who saw that documentary a couple of weeks ago on Ch4 will realise (The Great Global Warming Swindle it was called). It showed that yes, the CO2 levels and temperature levels are related, but unfortunately it's the deviations in temperature (caused by solar cycles, NOT 350Zs) which CAUSE increased CO2, not the reverse as we're always told. CO2 is released from the ocean as it warms up, provable by the fact it lags the increase in temperature by 200+ years. Here endeth the science lesson
  2. Sorted now. I blame the dark ! Totally different from what I was expecting, just flipped the little lid off with a screwdriver, was expecting the cover to hinge away as on previous cars ! (Not---embarassed---at---all)
  3. Ha ha - yes ! It's completely inaccessible without
  4. Maybe I'm gonna make myself look a bit stupid here , but here goes. Got in the car this morning, all frozen/snowed-up, so started the engine up whilst I went de-icing. What I didn't realise is I'd left my wipers on, and obviously they were stuck to the screen. So anyway, my passenger side wiper now moves up and down only about an inch, presumably because the nut has loosened itself - the drivers side is OK. But anyway, I can't find how to get to the nut ! Unlike previous cars where the nut was usually stuck under a little flip-cover, the Z seems to have a permanent cover over the nuts. What am I missing here ?
  5. Well having dug her out I have to say it wasn't half as bad as it could have been. Bonnet, front wing, passenger door, roof, and rear wing all have fairly deep scratching from the roof sheets and need respraying. Most astonishing of all was the minimal damage caused by the joists, given that they free-fell 3-4 feet. One came down on the pillar just to the side of the rear window but only caused a small depression, the other which was two joists bolted together came down on the pillar between roof and passenger window but somehow has caused no damage at all ! Have to say I'm well impressed with how the bodywork stood up, you really wouldn't have believed it if you'd seen how bad it looked initially. Anyway, together with other bits and pieces required like new seals for front & back windows and some repairs to scratches on the mirror housing I've been quoted £1200, which ain't bad considering. My excess is £450 and Direct Line estimate that the NCB loss will cost me £280 & £85 in the next two years, so it's definitely worth claiming. As for the asbestos, my brother-in-law is a roofer so I let him sort it all out, he reckoned it was safe enough, what with everything being soaked with rain anyway which prevents any dust.
  6. Cheers for the kind messages. I suspect that even though I have an increased excess to keep the insurance affordable (£450 I think) there is no doubt this is going to be a job which costs many times that, hence I'll have to claim. Most of the panels were scratched and there looked to be hefty dints in the roof where the joists had hit. Will report the damage later when I can actually get in there !
  7. Worst nightmare ever ! Having not used the Z yesterday I get up this morning, open the garage door and find the roof has collapsed during the wind. I've had to leave it and dash off to work in a borrowed car but it didn't look good - asbestos sheets scratched all over roof and passenger side and worst of all two joists have fallen slap bang on the roof. So anyone know if this is covered by motor or house insurance ? Problem being, if it's house, I don't have contents cover

    Rear Pads

Yes, there's one in Chorley and a third one somewhere in Lancs, not sure where. I've no experience of the Chorley branch, so like you say it could just be one bad egg

    Rear Pads

I really hope you don't plan to pay them for the labour or something then! If its taken them that long, then speak to the Dealer principal and demand some compensation/discount! That's appalling...... Yeah its rubbish. The reason was because they TWICE ordered the wrong part. Just to be fair to them I did get the used pads back and one of them was very worn ( <1mm ). Whether this counts as "dangerous" as they claimed is another matter. The other 3 pads had 4-5mm left for some reason I said I would name and shame and I will. It was Chorley Nissan, Preston branch. I've had previous with them aswell - about 2 years ago I turned up for a test drive with them, and the DTE was already flashing 20mls at the start of the drive - I vividly remember being rebuked by the salesman "if you carry on driving it like that we won't get back to the garage" as I booted out of a corner. Given that experience I was stupid to go back - I only did because going to Middlehursts as I always have previously means taking a day off given I work on the Fylde. Thankfully my warranty is up in May and I've no intention of my Z visiting a Nissan dealership again.

    Rear Pads

I wouldn't say I drive it that hard, in fact 60% of my miles are motorway. However the previous owner (Fletch on the old site, for anyone who remembers) lived right next door to Britains biggest racetrack, a.k.a. The Scottish Highlands, so I'm guessing thats where most of the wear came !! And my fronts were changed at 18k.

    Rear Pads

NAME THEM OK I will, but walls may have ears, so I'll wait til I've got it back first

    Rear Pads

Believe me, I WILL be doing this myself in future. Apparently they now need a THIRD day to change my brake pads. So I'm stuck with the worlds gayest loan car (a metallic turquoise Micra, which also has far and away the worst automatic gearbox I've ever driven). Am I allowed to name and shame ? I got a bit of a bollocking by the censors when I did it on the old Z site !!

Thanks, I had a feeling that was the case

    Rear Pads

I didn't actually take it home, left it with them overnight to be safe (they couldn't get pads til tomorrow). Still think it sounds a bit bizarre like !
  15. You just know the little shits in the 2nd Audi theft would have sued Ch5 if the rock had bounced back off the bullet proof glass and hit them

    Rear Pads

What sort of mileage is everyone getting from the OEM Rear Pads ? Just had mine in at the stealer for the 27k service today and was told they were so "dangerously low" that I would only be safe driving it home without braking Strange considering I've never heard/felt anything abnormal with them.
  17. 508 miles from a tank, Lancs to Fort William & almost all the way back last week. Cruise Control set at 75-80 on MWays. And that was on 95 RON (yeah I know, don't shout at me, one off cos I was rushing to set off ) I'm convinced the most economical speed is WELL below 70.
  18. SE04 ***. 8am-ish this morning, turned off A677 towards BAe Salmesbury.
  19. Interesting. When Middlehursts did my 18k service (six months ago) they did mention they had adjusted the tracking. This wasn't mentioned in the context of feathering or any other problems though - I just assumed it had gone out in the normal course of things. Maybe the excessive wear I'm now seeing is as a result of the tracking having been set wrong for the first 18k miles. Not sure I want another set of Potenzas anyway
  20. Thanks for that. Just checked and I have XZ's. So presumably something else is causing the uneven wear. Have checked and the pressures are OK. Anyone any ideas ?
  21. As I understand it (from the FAQ topic somewhere round here), Feathering refers to excessive wear on the OUTSIDE of the front tyres. I've just checked mine this morning and although there's 2mm+ on the outside, the inside inch or so of both fronts is virtually bald, ie. the opposite of what I'd expect. Is this feathering (and hence fixable under warranty ?). I've checked the TSB for this and unless I'm missing something it doesn't mention inside or outside ???
  22. Thanks for the welcomes guys. Yes Val - I remember talking to you on Motley Fool a couple of years ago when you'd just ordered your Z, I think you went some way to persuading me back then. Nice one ! Mike - I would be interested in a meet but both those dates are out for me. I'm running the Blackpool 10K on the 7th, and 28th is Spring Bank hol weekend and I've already stupidly agreed to get the tent out for that. I'll definitely try to make a future meet though. Chris
  23. Hello guys. Was an occasional poster for the last 2 years on the old site (recognise plenty of old names). Obviously a bit slow cos I've only just found out this place existed , I'm getting a bit like that nowadays ! For info, 04 Azure GT with Rays. Chris
