  1. Kev,

You sure about the requirement to have a driving licence at the Rally experiences at Silverstone? I did it a few years ago and was surprised by the fact that people did need a licence. It was a full day thing and was probably the best thing I'd ever done in a car...... sliding a rear wheel car with power round corners on dirt just rocks

Oh and I was a natural allegedly from the instructors! B);)

But back to the point, it was a great day and you learn a lot about car control there as well.......

  2. There's the rub and that is what needs putting right, killing someone who may be years later proven innocent is unacceptable and is the wrong solution and furthermore, is often the knee-jerk reaction cf The Birmingham Pub Bombers were basically framed (or at best convicted on flawed analysis) and if we had had CapP, would be dead now (they've probably died of old age anyway)

True enough, and I can understand that. But I would say that the number of these case were proven guilty much later is probably much smaller than the number of scallies that come straight out of jail to re-offend.

As I said, I don't mean death straight away, it would only be for certain capital crimes and once all appeals etc had been processed and proved invalid. Guess there would always be the odd one that was complete unjust, but then again, you can't have an omelette without breaking eggs. The majority would probably outweight the odd case, no matter how unfortunate. I know this is harsh to that odd case, but what else happens......

Anyway, it will never come back. We live in a much too "pc" world now. I mean, here's the world where a burglar can break into my house (and lets face it, he didn't "trip" through my window), I can confront him, then when a struggle breaks out etc then he can have me charged for assault! I mean, FFS!!

  3. If you mean corporal punishment then I think that a good spanking is a bit lenient ;)

If you mean capital punishment then I cannot see a justifiable argument for that given the notorious miscarriages of justice which have happened in the past. Why not let them rot in jail for 50 years - I prefer to pay for that than for a quick easy out

Yeah you right, sorry rushed typo..... was meant to be capital, not corporal.

I think the problem is Dorian, that NO ONE actually rots in jail anymore for 50 years, or even 20!

I know what you mean, but the flip side being how many times in the last year have you heard about a rapist etc thats been in jail countless times, only to come out and re-offend?

  4. To be honest, my point of view is for any of the really serious offences (especially repeat) then I'd like to see corporal punishment brought back.....

Murder, Rape, Child offences, etc...... to be honest, prisons are overcrowded and these people don't deserve better anyway, so I'd have them put down!

As long as it was absolutely proved without any doubt what so ever etc....

  5. Mods,

    Probably being dumb but...

In the Personnal Messages section there is :

Inbox - messages sent to me

Sentbox - messages I have sent

Outbox - what is this please ? I tried to send a PM yesterday and it is sitting in that box and I am not sure if it has been delivered or not.

    Thanks

    Hi mate,

Simplistically, the PM you send sits in your Outbox, until the recipient logs on and reads it. Then it gets moved to your sent items........

So if its still in the Outbox, its been sent but the recipient has not read it yet.

  6. Steve, I'd be up for this but unfortunately, I'm going to be well away in the sun for ALL of these dates!

Therefore I won't be able to make it....... shame, sounds ace following on from George's review as well......

I'll keep an eye out to see if the date moves etc.

  7. sounds good.

it looks like 3 of us will be travelling down from Manchester so first meeting point could be there

Yep, works for me. Will just have to sort out route etc. We could take the nice scenic route over the tops if we early....... some interesting roads at least and takes us down towards Chesterfield via the A623.

Then we could meet up with Tim and Bluffy if desired...... :D

  8. For all us northern Greater Manchester drivers. Here is a website that shows you all the locations of fixed, red light and mobile cameras for that week.

    http://www.drivesafe.org.uk/regions.php

If you click on your area, then there is also a link for the mobile vans specifically for that week, as they change locations etc!

This link takes you here:- http://www.drivesafe.org.uk/mobile.php

You may have already seen this, but hope it helps.....

  9. Hi chaps,

OK, I asked Derek about whether we have to register cars etc, and if we can all park together (club area).

    Here's the response:-

    Hi Mark,

thankz for the post. It will be good to see you all.

I should be there to welcome you as you come through the gate to the field. We like everyone to fill in a registration form and wear a name badge (if you have club name badges that's great. ) just so we know who's on site and who each other are when we talk. On the sunday we usually line the cars up around lunch time and the drivers all have a voting slip in order to vote for the car they think is best in each marque. There will be a trophy for the best.

There is plenty of space and if you want to have a club area that's fine. you can display banners flags etc. It's very informal. I am hoping to arrange some inter club sports which will be fun but not overtaxing .

A bbq will be on all day (or until food runs out) There will be a raffle (donations for prizes are always welcome) A limited supply of cold drinks will be available in the club shop and tea and coffee will be on all day.

There is an entry fee of £2 per car (this covers a charitable donation to the dog sanctuary) It is a pleasant venue if you bring the family or friends and you can view the dogs at visiting time. You don't have to come in a Z. Many of our members have cars in restoration and will attend in other vehicles.

We don't expect anyone to join the Z Club (although membership details will be available). If anyone has Z related parts to sell or a car for sale they can bring them along (no charge for private sales)

Traders can purchase a stand for £10

Our aim is to have a good weekend and to promote z ownership

    Any urther queries please ask.

    RegardZ

    Derek

Sounds nice and relaxed. Might be good for us all to meet up just before etc, to go in together?

  10. Jacko, when you doing a re-run of your last run (into wales i think it was)

I missed it, but will make he next, heard great things about it :teeth::teeth:

Scooby, dunno to be honest. I was trying to come up with somewhere else to organise, but with work and loads of other stuff, I've not had chance yet.

But if everyone else was up for it then, could sort one out...... I'll post up a seperate thread etc (to keep this one on topic).... :)

  11. OK, I'm almost there with this. I want Axis/Dare Hiros 19" in a 8.5 and 9.5 width.

BUT 350Zonline.com has got them as +15 and +20 offsets respectively but Sounth West Wheels have e-mailed me to say "offset of the front et32

offset rear et38". They're not even similar! :scare: Anyone got any thoughts?

    Lazy arse! :p;):)

Oh yeah, I mean...... as if I, am going to look through MY thread for YOUR info! :p:boxing::D

You the lazy one, you can't even be arsed setting up your own thread ;)

  12. People that do track days might want to take a gander due to we'll be doing driftdays through driftacademy at silverstone 10% cheaper than normal prices.

If any ones done drifting before the amount of feel and confidence a driftday gives you is great. every time I go one of the top time attack people is there for that exact reason

Nadine Geary in her 900 bhp Dodge Viper

I really want to do one of these drift academy days. Will have to be a few months away though till I manage to find some money down the back of the sofa etc!
