  1. Thanks, lads! And it DOES feel different now I don't owe any money on it...

The fatherhood is going well - little Hana is a corker and although six weeks old today she was sat on my knee this morning looking at me with her big blue eyes and goo-gooing about the gaza conflict to me, which she'd been watching on news24...

  2. Couldn't do it. Couldn't sell it. I went for a last spin before I had to hand it back after weeks of not driving it and just being in the Mazda 6... loved it.

So, 11.5k lighter, I now own my lovely Kuro who I've had since birth on a PCP....

And I just booked my Eurotunnel crossing for the Nurburgring in May 15 - 4th year in a row.

I guess I won't be leaving this forum anytime soon!

PS. I saw a bunch of blokes with clipboards outside Maranello's in Egham today ,.. and all the ferraris had prices in em (unusual) - could they be going to the wall / selling off?

  3. we live in a free world - if british businesses were doing a good job, and let's be honest Alan Sugar aint all that when it comes to business, then they'd get our business. The global horse has well and truly blown the doors off and bolted so this particular type of Arthur Daley ignorant chest thumping jingoism just shows Alan for what he is.

Something even worse right now is everyone blaming the government (no, I'm not a labour support) for their ills. It's like "My arse itches, the government should do something about it". No mate, your arse itches because you are sat on it and gobbing off instead of using your brain and body to do something useful.

There is little encouragement to be an entrepreneur these days as I'm sure some folks on here can attest to. Tax, employment rules (have YOU ever tried to "let someone go" who is rubbish?), exorbitant finance rates, too high cost of failure, lack of good labour, large companies exploiting the small with things like payment terms.

Why punish the chinese just because they are doing a better job than us? That's nuts. We're starting to sound like the French and their farming subsidies.

  4. Thanks, all. It's her one week birthday today... you can see the difference in just a week, much more alert (trouble!).

The Z is on its way out, and we have a Mazda 6 estate as the company bus... once things settle down (summer?) I'll be in the market for a new motor but it will need more than two seats...

Any tips on bringing up a baby girl? (ear plugs?)

  5. Hello all, just t o let you know I'm the proud dad of a week old girl called Hana. :dummy:

She was born last Fri @ 1133 PM. :yahoo:

Mother and baby are as fit as fiddles, and Dad has a whole new outlook on life. Z is still going, in fact in the next two weeks. :byebye:

  6. I think your mum has made a brave and good decision - with the business still up and running, it would be hard to keep Phil away and focusing on the most important thing which is his full recovery. You know what dad's are like, they never listen...

Wishing you, the rest of ESR, and of course Phil and your family all the best.

  7. Two months... but I'll be knee deep in nappies for those two months...

I've seen the light too - after paying cash for a 5k mazda that is great, and actually enjoying driving within the speed limits like James May, I've kind of fallen out of love with the old petrol drinking, attention-seeking whore that is the Z.

It was a good three years though! Perhaps come next spring I might be back in the market...

PS. Just for a laugh, a dealer in Brum quoted me 49k for a VXR8 with the carbon edition mods. 49k for a vauxhall! What's that catch phrase from "When the Whistle blows"? (extras)...

Who will be the first on here to get a 370z I wonder... or a GTR (Woreod?)

  8. With our first baby due in three weeks, we've bought our first family bus - a 3yr old Mazda 6 estate. We got it via autoquake.com - great price and service, highly recommended.

Last two months with the Z as my PCP finishes in Jan so I'll just be handing the keys back... bye bye Z and probably bye bye forum...

...it's been fun, but all good things must come to an end... some forum highlights from me:

    * The second and third Wales drives (I live in Staines, so it was a treck and half for me... but worth it). B)

    * Speeding around Bluewater with Jay & Co. :teeth:

    * Being stopped in a small village down south with Woreod being told off by a local old lady

    * Sarnie getting banned for his M6 100mph then going out and buying a Lambo - good skills! :boxing:

    * How some early arguments dissapaited and some great new folks joined the site.

    * P15ULTs green monster - I love that colour! :yahoo:

All in all, I can honestly say this has been the best forum I've been a member of.

    Ciao

    Steve
