  1. if anyone is in the Bristol/Bath area, I can recommend ProTyre. Nice lads, just turned up on a Sat morning with no booking, 40 mins and 6 cups of coffee later I had nice pre/post readout, minor adjustments done (did camber for free), 35 quid, talked me through the whole process.
  2. hard acceleration in lower gears....I just can't resist!! Thanks dudes - sounds like its normal then..
  3. I know... by the way - the 4 wheel alignment did camber as well. all in the green. Oddski.
  4. hmm As I was mentioning before...the wear on my back tyres. This is the left rear. you are looking at the back of it, so the left is the outside. the right rear was EXACTLY the same, even so I had 4 wheel alignment done after having some (lovely) falken 452s put on. It was spot on. This can't be normal - looks as though I've been carting a horse round in the boot for 10k miles.
  5. hey - yes thanks for the post. seems my lo-fi graphix have left a little too much to interpretation (save bandwidth save the planet tho) yep its the inside edge of the tyre. and yep I have been caning it a bit. sounds normal then. falkens on order. thanks for help
  6. thanks for the hints - checked the tyre pressures though and they're bang on. have taken some pics and will post shortly. maybe its an alignment thing. The wear is more like: _____x x_____ right on the inside edge of the tyre.. nackers. J
  7. Hiya Getting some odd wear patterns on both my rears (Standard potenzas on RAYS, no track action just lots of motorway miles) _____x__ __x_____ Looking at the back of the car, the x marks where I can almost see the steel re-inforced banding stuff they're so worn. ..tread still totally ok on the visible sides of the tyre. Any ideas? Thanks J
  8. lol - the dean... Isn't there a "bumps and scratches" (or something) guy on here? Thanks for the info Minel J
  9. ..to pay. (garage owners will like this) Had a bit of an incident last night - heard some bins being chucked around in the street at about 1:30 am - one of them was resting up against my Z - so I quickly pulled on trainers hooded top etc - ran out of the house and founf there was some minor damage (a dent - about 3mm wide, 1.5 mm gradual depression, on passenger door). Red mist descended.... screaming blue murder (with a crow bar I hasten to add - just for defence - just in case - which I left hidden on the street before they saw me), chased after them and confronted 3, drunk posh student tw*ts.. ..now - you don't really need to know what happened next, thankfully no brains spilled on the street and I have contact details- BUT - how much would this sort of thing cost to fix? There is no paint damage, just this tiny soft depression in the panel. Thanks J
  10. ha - well you've obv got a good sense of humour..(kind of important for GTO owners..).! My brothers got one - I borrowed it a while back and made the mistake of pressing the wing mirror button...whilst this caused the rear spolier to start responding to speed again (it had been stuck down for ages) - the wing mirrors wouldn't fold out again...they're wicked cars and I love them - mad overkill japanese 90s technology cheers tho - see ya
  11. cool - well. I opened it up again, drained the water, replaced the bulb, refixed it...turned on the lights and....: the left wing mirror folded in and passenger seat warmer turned on??!!! Ha no not really - its not a Mitsibushi GTO Lights fine again - thanks for the help..will keep an eye on rear light goldfish potential though.
  12. ....that NEARLY made me laugh....but not quite. Any ideas beyond references to your own genitals more than welcome! I got stopped by the police last night cos of this (and I was caning it - she had no recording equipment and was by herself... ).... and am quite keen to sort it!! don't say dealer, don't say dealer...
  13. the plot thickens.... ...water inside the housing, sloshing around just below the level of the bulb...now I'm no physicist but.. ..so I aborted for fear of electrical incidents..and the thought struck me - warranty? What now?!
  14. nice one - thanks for the guide. First time doing anything except checking oil and filling washer....feels like I'm violating her!
  15. lol - I knew as I typed that it was a thick thing to say.... Where can I get a replacement bulb? Is it difficult to replace? Please don't tell me I need to visit the dealer..
  16. brakes AND lights? or am i being thick ...is it the same bulb..
  17. bit of a weird one...car was idling outside Threshers last night with my mate in it, a cd playing and the front dips on..as I was paying for my lagers I glanced over lovingly at the car through the window...when all of a sudden the rear nearside light cluster just went off! My mate was on the phone at the time and hadn't touched anything! Anyway - its not just the lights but the brake light on that side isn't working either. Is this a fuse? Had a look at the manual and searched these forums but can't see anything. The fuse box diagram didn't appear to have one for the rear lights so I thought I'd ask u lot before proceeding to take them all out...(P*ssing with rain here in Bristol and I haven't got a garage...) Any ideas??
  18. except the dealers have told me its nothing to do with CV joints - its wheel bearings. Anyone else had this?
  19. Hiya all - Brilliant forum skills recently by the way lads - I got some top oil off Oilman (thanks, v prompt delivery) and a bluetooth adaptor for the car kit off Mr F (also v prompt, plays my ring tone through the sound system - nice surprise). Now - sent my z in for its 1st service - I'm racking up some miles so I went for FP1. Came back and they've given it a P1. Was a bit miffed (also the bloke who dropped the car off had parked it with one wheel on the f*kin kerb) Anyway - I called em and they said "there is no difference between a P1 and an FP1 when its the first service". Is this a crock? Many thanks for your ongoing help.
  20. thanks for the responses guys - I'm guessing therefore that its possibly a better idea to save for a decent mod. Like maybe supercharging. I've done a search around and I know/think that yr lookin at 4k ish to fit - but what about cost of returning to stock, effect on insurance etc? any pointers as ever v grateful.
  21. HIya Guys I know some of you are from these western parts - and I should explain I prolly haven't a clue about mods. I know I could do the research myself and buy bits online and stuff but basically what I'm after is a garage / mechanic in bristol/bath areas who has dealt with Zs before and would be able to order and fit bits for me in a bit of a "one stop shop" stylee. I just want to give someone some money and say "MAKE IT FASTER!" without having to make decisions or think too hard... I know thats a bit lame but its all v v bewildering..plenum.. cat back? FI super v tt, filters etc etc aaa can u guys recommend anyone? ta again. I'm after speed - not superficial noises or styling. Just speed. budget is prob 1.5k at mo. so nothing major.
  22. is it easy to remove vinyl decals when yer done wiv em?
  23. Hiya all.. Anyone know a good supplier for decals? I'm after something like this: just the teeth...not the whole plane... er...reason being is that I'm going to Le Mans, me and my bro (who is a dentist) are going as "troubled" dentists..he has made some special large teeth for us, we have thick glasses and dentists outfits, head mirrors etc... but now the car feels a bit left out. So any links? I'm in Bristol, if that makes any difference. no jokes please... Ta!
  24. just wondering (did a search but couldn't find it anywhere..) whats the top speed when the 155 limit is removed? on a non-modded 350z coupe. pre 06.
  25. Hiya its booked in for the 10th - apparently not the clutch itself but some rod/brush/spring combination from the pedal box down.. defect - warranty - phew. thanks for the help.
