  1. Anyone experience this? When starting the car from cold, turning the air conditioning on, or turning full lock, the belts scream like a stuck pig. The belts are not Nissan, in fact I won them in a North Wales Meet raffle Anyone got any suggestions on how I fix this please? Is there an adjustment that can be made or do I need to purchase a new set? (in which case, are they easy to fit?). Also one for the moderators - does the search box work on the site? I searched 'fan belt' (site remove the word 'fan' for some reason, 'fanbelt' and 'belt' which all showed 'no results' Thanks all Neil
  2. So... Do I need a special coolant that has been passed by virgins? (£170.00 seems a lot to me).
  3. Yea, I know Mitz - bought a set of discs and pads from him - good guy...
  4. Thanks mate - I did do a search but I did not find this (obviously).
  5. You know when you realise you had opened a can of worms and wish you hadn't looked in the first place? Well, today I was browsing the service history of my 56 plate and noticed the spark plugs need changing at 5 years or 54,000 miles. Having always taken it to a Nissan garage I called them to confirm this had been done as I could not see anything on the service reports. The answer was 'No' and an apology followed. So, I asked for a price for a P3 service, a spark plugs change and a coolant change (at their advice). The price is £630.00! £280 for the P3 (and I supply my own oil as usual), about £180 for the spark plug change (apparently they cost £114.00 without labour) and around £170 for the coolant change. As the car is out of warranty now, I am thinking of change the plugs and coolant myself - how hard can it be Can anyone confirm this is an easy job (I know what a spanner is) and can you tell me what type of plugs I need along with the right coolant please? Thanks in advance. Neil
  6. It's a dipstick guide as it enters on an angle...
  7. I found that if I make sure the oil is topped up correctly, the knocking disappears (strangely), so I have been keeping an eye on it. If I notice a knock I add half a litre and it behaves. What's this cam sensor Mike? Thanks Neil

Anyone interested in a group buy ? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Search.do?method=delegate&n=1681&p=37401&s=33245 Chris (chesterfield) - you know you want it.... Neil
  10. Thanks un1eash - much appreciated (I was obviously searching with the wrong key words ) I remember back in the good old days of this forum when members helped each other instead of being quick to be a teensy bit patronising Dan (Ekona). Shame...
  11. Before anyone moans - yes, I have used the search option to find the answer but failed... Has anyone managed to work out how to play songs off an iPhone to the BOSE system? It would make a change to play music without loading the appropriate CD's prior to travel I'm also using the bluetooth phone kit. Thanks everyone.. Neil
  12. Yes, very - they will go flat if you run over a nail....
  13. Falken all the way for me....
  14. That is what I am referring to mate.. The Calendar shows only Birthdays and when I go to the meets, I have to try an establish which threads are current, read most of them to obtain a date of the event and so on. I just think members may miss important meets unless thay are viewing the threads daily.
  15. OK, I know I am probably setting myself up for a barrage of abuse, but here's my suggestion. I haven't been on the forum for a while and thought "I wonder if there are any meets coming up (like this bank holiday weekend) that I (we) can ttend?" so I thought I'd have a look. That sounds easier than it is though. After spending around an hour searching (got side tracked reading other threads ), I still cannot find any future dates promoting events? I can easily find out members birthdays (are you really 33 Chesterfield?) in the calendar area - would it be possible to add events to this as well? Neil
  16. Just had a service on the car.. Reported a 'squeal' like a belt slipping when cold. Garage came back with 'N/S/F Exhaust Mounting Broken and squealing - price for CAT and Gaskets - £900.00 !! Before I look for the rope - does anyone have any suggestions? Neil
  17. Thanks Colin - that's the fella (although my knocking is not as loud as terribleone's). My car has a 5 year warranty which runs out this September so I think I'll visit Nissan Leicester to see if they can sort it One can dream...
  18. Markfield I'll have a listen tomorrow...
  19. Haven't noticed the revs jump or the exhaust babble mate? Do you think its an 'East Midlands' thing
  20. 'Intermittent' I hate that word.... On idle I occassionally hear a rythmic knocking coming from the bottom of the engine bay. It's a heavy knock. When cold its not present - when very hot its not present. If I start the car about an hour after previously driving it, the knocking appears. Took it into Nissan and was obviously embarrassed when the knock did not appear I'm using Titan Pro 5w-40 Oil of which I have been using for a couple of years so I don't think its this? Chris S mentioned a thread suggesting Fuel Dampner but I have spent over an hour searching with no luck (this site has too much info sometimes ) Do you think an ECU reset would help? If yes, what is the 'pedal dance' you learned guru's bang on about? Any help would be appreciated please Neil
  21. Matt, A price for the handles (as above) would be nice please? Do I bring £50 or £500 for them Thanks Neil
  22. I'm looking for the left and right door grab handle covers (that house the switches) to replace my scratched ones please? 56' plate facelift GT UK Also interested in the iPod conversion for the bose, but I am sure I can sort this with you on Sunday and have it done later as it seems you will have quite a queue How much for the covers matey? Neil
  23. I'm in need of parting with some money (not alot!). Anyone thinking of selling small items such as door grab handle covers, vent trims etc. on Sunday? I know that in the past some members have done this - obviously a full set of alloys or a driveshaft is out of the question, but the smaller items seemed to make sense? Just a thought.. Neil
