  1. Apologies if this is in the wrong section but i didnt know where else to put it.

Been getting random Engine Light coming on and have checked it to be error code P1065 which on the diagnostic machine says "Main Relay Malfunction". A quick search on the web shows a lot of posts mentioning "ECM Power Supply Heater".

I cant seem to find anything to actually describe what this means, nor how to resolve it, short of 'deleting the error and see how it goes'.

    Any help please?

    Cheers

  2. the issue is that the Unichip is a **** poor piggyback.... it offers just the bare minimum control needed.

I think perhaps for our car's needs, the bare minimum is all that it does need...?

Would love to get Chris to do it, but Silverstone is a 700+ mile round trip for me. For the same price of petrol and an overnight stay I think I'd prefer to have a weekend break in Amsterdam and come home with change!

  3. I have read over on the other side :teeth: that the piggy back's are not as good as a new afternarket ECU.

Totally agree on that one - but I thought this would be good because:

    1) The car aint ever gonna have mega-mods so a piggyback would probably do the job ok

    2) It's not that expensive

    3) Dastek are 20miles from here and I cant be bothered taking my car to a tuner in England to get a full ECU fitted cause I am old and tired :wheelchair:

    lol

  4. Hey guys

Just thought I'd give you an update on our project car and its progress.

A week or so ago we tagged along with the MR2 owners club up to Dastek in Dalgety Bay. I took the Z and my wife took her TT which we've been working on a lot recently.

First up, the TT on the rollers produced storming results coming in at the 275.9 bhp / 281.1 lbft. A great result for the work we've put in it and with a slight under-fueling issue seems more can come with a better map. The 1.8T engine is a belter of a motor I have to say.

Now the Z - seems I had the opposite problem with it over fueling. I was actually lower bhp and torque (273.3 / 256.5) than the wife's TT much to the amusement of her and others.

The over fueling might suggest why I am getting the engine check light a lot - with it most often reverting to a 'back up map' (not a 'get you home map' but apparently the system has another copy of the base map in its ECU - odd) which it does quite often.

Sooooo, I need a re-map. Dastek said they could fit one of their piggybacks onto it which I thought would be a good idea, if nothing else just to resolve the fueling graph. Has anyone else used a Dastek on their Z?

    Anyway that's it for now.

  5. They have to come from USA, so there's a shipping cost to get them over by Air Mail - then there's the old VAT and clearance fee and handling fee by the shipping company. Then when we take your money we get charged by the bank between 3 and 4.5% as fees. Additionally, we had to pay out a bank fee to buy them from the US company in the first place.

I think maybe it'd be a better idea to be a bank rather than a car parts retailed :headhurt:

  8. Fed up being taken for a mug by your local dealer for genuine Nissan parts?

JDM Performance now has strong links with Nissan in Japan and can import direct from them, saving you money!

    For example:

    Nissan OEM part number: 43210-AL505

    Nissan price = £74.35

    Funky price = £55

    Nissan OEM part number: 39211-73L00

    Nissan price = £141.49

    Funky price = £120

Try us now - all we need is the Nissan part number and the price quoted by your dealer and we'll get back to you with a better price!

This applies to all 350z parts and also any other Nissan part!

  9. OK guys, engine light is on again - 3rd time in 3,000 miles and I am getting fed up going to the stealer to have it checked and switched off.

Has anyone yet managed to get some software that'll read the ECU on the import model? (its different to the UK one - so units which read the UK car does not work on the JDM).

I'm really wanting to get this sorted this time so I can do this myself so any help greatfully received.

    Cheers

    Chris
