Been looking at brake upgrades as I dont like the look of the "small" standard brakes, but these cost big $$$.

I have some steel lines sat around waiting to be installed and am also considering slotted discs and uprated pads which should make an upgrade unnecessary atm imo.

BTW, 2nd car I think the antera's look nice on!

Ive been thinking of this upgrade too Jim, but dont really hammer it and the brakes are good most of the times. You can upgrade brake lines (steel lines) and get better pads and discs and this should be pretty much all you ll ever need, maybe even if you go SC way imo.

Just out of interest, what is it about the Bridgestones that people don't like - is it just the wet grip? beacause I only take my car out in dry conditions, and I have no complaints at all with the std. tyres - my car seems to stick to the road very well

Im not an expert mate, but I ve found the bridgestones to be good enough in the dry, esp if you can get them warm enough. In the wet though, different story.

What's the deal with the JDM's? There's obviously loads about but I have read stories about how they are this and that and basically not a patch on the UK models? Fact or fiction?

The above is generally a load of cack perpetuated by the usual suspects. The JDM versions are very slightly different, but come in various trim levels. If you are getting one, get a version S or ST, as these come with brembos. Should be reasonable amount of information around, if you search for it and are keen.
